Aquatic Embassy

Embassy of the Mer Kingdom in the South Quarter

Contained in: South Quarter

Created some two decades ago for the Mer and Aventi to serve as embassy between the Mer Kingdom and the city.

The main building is two story, with the top half above the waterline, and the bottom half below. There will be accommodations for visiting dignitaries in both sections and, the current resident Ambassador, Aquana Sirena's private quarters will also span both levels. The meeting room will have a large moon-pool in the middle of it, as well as a refreshment bar while Aquana's office will also feature a smaller pool along with her desk, library shelves and file storage. The idea is that meetings between land and sea dwellers can be easily accommodated. The library is also upstairs.

Part of the bottom level will be airfilled and the wall facing the ocean made transparent so that visitors can see the underwater life in their natural habitat. On the other side will be another transparent wall looking into a large tropical aquarium - the embassy coral gardens which will be full of reef fish etc. Anyone who wishes to can swim in it as well as watch from either above or from the side. Underwater shows can be put here as part of the cultural exchange. It has also hosted functions such as Spica and Vydia's wedding.

Cooking facilities are on the top level with privy areas on both levels. Aquana's private quarters compose of her personal bedroom, a closet for clothes, and her living area. Underneath her quarters are equivalent underwater private areas which have access to the central garden. The garden walls are also transparent between the underwater guest quarters although there are curtains for privacy.

In one corner is a tower that hosts one or two Reivers, and their Hauwks that are currently assigned to the Embassy. It's known as Christian Hall, named after Aquana's friend and fallen Reiver.

She also plans to have a pool built where she can teach people to swim as well as allowing the surface dwellers and the merfolk to mingle on a more informal basis.

Aquana is usually assisted by Vydia, who is the merkingdom's representative to the 'surface dwellers'. Rani Frost has also worked here on a casual basis.

Princess Airelin R'lyoh is also a frequent visitor. It is rumoured that she and Aquana are very close but Airelin claims she only comes for the chocolate.

During The Siege the Embassy was partially overrun by the Horde but was forced out by a multitude of Mer. Hundreds were killed in the protection of the Embassy. Damage to the Embassy was minimal and was repaired swiftly.
