Jedi Knight

Knight
No tags

Jedi Knights have completed their training, and have demonstrated their dedication to, and understanding of, the Jedi code. They can take on even the most dangerous missions. They still answer to the Jedi Council, and are outranked by Jedi Masters, but they have a large degree of independence.

See the setting info on Jedi Knights →

Benefits May operate independently, and are trusted with difficult decisions and missions. They have their own quarters in the Jedi Temple. They have access to all training in Skills, Combat Styles and Force Powers available. Furthermore, they can take on one or two Apprentices.

A Jedi Knight is allowed to switch to another philosophy from the set of accepted philosophies (and the teachings of their former master, if applicable); they can only do so if their virtues match those that a Padawan must meet to declare for that philosophy. This is a significant event, and knights that switch philosophies often are considered to still be seeking their moral center.

Jedi Knights may request to speak to the council. Approval for such things is usually granted only if the knight offers a good reason to take up the time of the council.

Duties Knights are expected to strongly follow the Jedi Code, and to guide their Apprentices in this matter. They are also expected to help with teaching, assist with political and diplomatic matters of the council, and to contribute to the Jedi Order. They will also be assigned to missions by the Jedi Council. Furthermore, there is an expectation that they will eventually take on an Apprentice.

Advancement To be promoted to the rank of Jedi Master, a Jedi Knight must be proposed for promotion by a Council Member. If the proposal is supported by other council members, the candidate will be considered for promotion.

The council will also discuss the Knight's philosophy, their conduct will be reviewed, the actions of their apprentices will be considered, and they will be interviewed on their actions and choices. Only if the council unanimously agrees that the Jedi Knight is ready to take on the duties of a Jedi Master can the candidate be promoted. The council will also consider the candidate's dedication to the Jedi Code and their declared philosophy. The Knight's virtue distribution must match the most stringent demands of their philosophy, and they may have no more than one-fifth of their virtue points in Dark virtues. The knight must also have gained at least 150 training points in total.

Upon promotion all ten of the characters virtues are increased by one virtue point (putting the total available virtue points for Jedi Masters at 35).

There can only be one promotion of a Jedi Knight per nine months. Every filled seat on the council reduces this time by one month.
