Jedi Master

Master
No tags
For other uses of 'Master' see Apprentices.

A Jedi Master has shown a deep understanding of the Jedi code, and has demonstrated a keen insight into the morality and implications of the light virtues.

See the setting info on Jedi Masters →

Benefits Jedi Masters are considered fully independent, and normally have the implicit trust and support from their fellow masters and the Jedi Council. They may take on Apprentices, and have access to all available training. Jedi Masters can always speak to the council, even if they do not give a good reason.

Furthermore, they may also formulate alternative Force Philosophies and take on their own philosophy as they train new padawan. In this stage, only their padawan may declare for this philosophy.

Duties Jedi Masters are exemplars to other Jedi in the Order, and are expected to behave as such. They must be able to explain their actions and choices as flowing from their understanding of the Jedi Code and the light virtues. They are also expected to keep an eye on the development of initiates, padawan and knights.

As with Jedi Knights, they are also expected to help with teaching, assist with political and diplomatic matters of the council, and to contribute to the Jedi Order.

Advancement There is no further rank to advance to from Jedi Master. There are, however, options for the further career of the Jedi Master:

  1. They can be invited to sit on the council. If they accept they are still Jedi Master, but also hold the distinction of being a Council Member.
  2. They can retire. In this case they withdraw from being active members of the Jedi Order. The player cedes control of their PC, and this PC becomes a mostly inactive NPC. With this retirement comes the option of providing a permanent and uniquely defined benefit to the Jedi Order (which must be designed and approved).
  3. They can nobly sacrifice themselves during a plotline or mission. From a rules perspective this is handled the same way as retirement, and offers a unique and permanent benefit to the Jedi Order.

We will design additional options if there are a number of PC Jedi masters.
