Visiting the Safe Harbors

No tags

Milo visits the random Safe Harbor homes for battered women offering his card.

"Let the people running these shelters know that they can call me with any problems needing the NYPD. Theres an old saying where I come from when there is Thunder... grandfather has your back."

He wait's a moment trying to see if the words were understood. At worse he was some country weirdo, at best the Furies would recognize an olive branch.

"So yeah, you all have a good day."

He would get into his squad car and drive off back on duty.

Description: A petite girl with shoulder-length brown hair and wire-framed glasses, Mayra presents a conservative picture. She is usually dressed in simple, non-flattering suits and low heels. She wears no makeup or visible jewelry, and some may describe her as ‘mousy.’ She is very soft-spoken and appears rather timid on the first impression. Her new-found duties are changing this, however. She is starting to show the beginnings of an actual backbone.

The young woman who accepts the card adjusts her glasses and her eyes narrow as she studies the policeman. The card is run back and forth against her nails in a fanning gesture as she debates how to answer.

Finally, she smiles.

"Thank You - Officer. I will be sure to convey your regards to Ms. Vallis."

The dropping of the Elder's name was not unnoticed by Milo...

He watches Mayra a moment, it was evident that the name was in fact known. He chuckles a bit. Mostly because the cloak and dagger routines feeling out of place and though he's in some bad 80s action movie. He notices he's gone off in some awkward silence deep in that odd thought. He clears his throat.

"Milo... you can call me Milo. Miles Reynolds... just... My... Low. Or you can say officer."

He steps forward and offers his hand.

"Miles Reynolds... pleasure to meet you."

The woman steps back as Milo steps forward and while she offers her hand the hesitation was obvious. The flush that rushes to color her cheeks is indicative of her embarrassment.

"Myra Kostos. Will there be anything else, Officer"

While Milo may feel that he is being dismissed and she is ready to rid herself of his presence ... the ultimate decision to press for more information or to take his leave is ultimately his and his alone.

His touch was gentle, if sweaty and blotchy. He could sense the awkwardness and steps back making sure to look away and not make her the object of any attention. For a moment he forget the house and shelter he was in and what most women may have endured.

"Uhh... no... just. Wanted to present myself to... You I guess."

He laughs a bit and shakes his head releasing a deep sigh.

"What you all do here is important, and well theres been reports of some of the ladies feeling threatened, perhaps getting threats. Well just want them to know... there's someone to call."

He starts stepping out and points back at the card giving a polite smile and if ever flirtatious saunter.

"My cell phone is on there... so you can call me anytime. Well not you... personally... I mean... well no I mean YOU can call too."

Sighs once more and just as he was going to continue to salvage the embarrassment the Radio buzzes to life with some odd code and needing officer on site. Milo couldn't have been more relieved before bowing for some reason and getting the fuck out.

The woman's face darkens and her nails bite into the flesh of her palms leaving moon-shaped depressions as her breathing regulates.

"Thank You... Officer." She manages.

Perhaps it was the harmless flirtation - however innocent. Perhaps it was his swagger. Regardless - Mayra seems quite closed off emotionally and her shuffling gait is indicative that she'd rather be anywhere but here and is only too glad to take her leave of Milo.

A sigh is given as she watches the taillights of his patrol car disappear around the corner as he drives away. Only after she is sure that the man has quite removed himself from their territory from received word by the Patrolling Garou does she move to find the Elder so that the two can strategize over this rather unusual encounter.
