The Clock Tower Rings

No tags

At Noon today, for the first time since the siege, the chime of a bell could be heard echoing across the entire city of Duirt.

Eyes were quickly drawn towards the Clock Tower which has been silent since it received damage during the attacks on the city. Famously, the Clock Tower had rang every hour since it was built centuries ago. Then, because of damage not only to the mechanisms, but critically to the Bell itself, the Clock Tower had gone silent and city officials had said there was not enough Bronze to repair the bell, which was rumored to be made of Dragon Scales.

Now however, new rumors quickly spread that a completely new bell has been forged of the mythical scales. This new bell was gifted as a boon by Beluvial herself to the Barmaid Laleh Elaheh from the Golden Lion, for her aid in protecting the Atianna Matriarchs family and lands, supposedly against Demons and Undead. If this is true, surely the barmaid could have chosen a boon of personal riches, or magical items, or any number of other gains that the stunning Beluvial could have granted her; instead, she chose to use her gift to replace the magnificent Bell with one made of the same materials it had been rumored to be forged in from the beginning, asking for such a thing because of Beluvial's being of the lineage from Royal Dragons.

Those that see the massive bell can confirm it does, indeed, appear to be made of scales, and students from the Tower claim that it glows with a powerful and unknown magic. Perhaps the purpose is to protect it from future harm, or to better project its sound, but whatever the case, the true power of the magical radiance it gives is unknown to all but the Lady Beluvial herself. Regardless, it seems to be the genuine article.

That beautiful and majestic sound continues to ring on the hour, every hour, once again. While it may take some getting used to hearing it, the sound of the bell ringing reminds the people of the city that it has come a long way from the terrible siege, and that like the beach, even the worst reminders of the siege's terrible impact on the city will fade, while the city itself lives on.
