Azuru is a major trade city in the Samangan region; most mining goods from al-Mansur, Sintara and even Qaya goes through the city gates, as does most of the food produced in Riyadh. The city itself is situated around three oases, of which two are used as the gardens of the Emir's palace.

It lies west of Karanur, northwest of al-Gharb, northeast of Taraf, southeast of Riyadh and southwest of Sintara. It is the west most city of the Azuru - al-Shami trade route.
