Samangan was an alliance of independent city states, until the Igani conquered all independent cities due to the diplomatic misbehaviour of the Prince of Madina. The name is now used to indicate a region of the southern desert.
Samangan contains two cities of special note. Riyadh, the west-most city in the Samangan region, is notable due to it's fertile ground and abundant plant life. This city is one of the main supplies of food for the north-western Samagan region. The second city of note is Azuru, which is both the home of Roxelana and the final city to be conquered during the short war over the Samangan region.
Other cities that warrant a short note are Karanur, Madina, Sintara and finally al-Gharb. Karanur and Madina have seen their ruling family replaced during the war due to the familiy being excessively disrespectful towards either the female diplomats requesting their surrender or, in the case of Madina, due to the ruler of Madina assaulting Azizah. al-Gharb's ruler was removed by Kanbei during an infiltration operation. Sintara's ruler was handed over by Roxelana after the two-day siege of Azuru.
