Master Crular has asked for two Padawan to travel off world to bring home a stranded Padawan learner. The young Padawan was off-world for training and someone needs to go and bring them back home.

This mission is for up to three Padawans.

One Padawan will be the 'stranded' Padawan who went off world for training - you should probably have a somewhat unusual skill which you went off world for, and will need to cooperate with the storyteller as you'll get some of the necessary plot data.

One Padawan will be the pilot. You must have the ability to fly a space ship and you will be responsible for getting to and from the location. Except a little difficulty though!

Finally, one Padawan will manage some special resources given to them by Master Crular. You should probably be a responsible Padawan, or Master Crular would not give those special resources to you.

Once you've established who will be in what role, I'll send some special information to each participant.

Since Macuy was the only Padawan (at least for now) that has had sufficient training to profeciently pilot the Jedi's Alula light freighter that sat in the Temple Hangar, he approached Master Crular to express his willingness to help out a fellow padawan, before going to the Hangar.

(( In case too few characters sign up for this mission, I could join with Denari as either the "responsible" Padawan or the stranded one, perhaps to train for one of the higher wildernis survival skills. However, since I am already participating in another mission, I don't want to take the place of Padawan Macuy or Padawan Kial Valian if their players are interested in joining. ))

(( I'll leave the mission open for the moment as I happen to know some of the players who haven't any missions entered yet are away from home for a bit and will be returning soon. ))

(( I'm willing and able to use Kial Valian as the stranded padawan. I believe Zero-G Mobility would be suited to the skill, though that depends on the location you had in mind. Considering her background I don't think her other skills are well suited, but I can make an argument for Military Command and Systems Operator if you consider those to be more suited. ))

(( Regardless my earliest next posting opportunity will be Sunday. (Blasted crappy Scottish reception and lack of Wi-Fi) ))

(( Than you should have gone to Edinbrough Dragonmaster, I had no problems there last May. Also I dont mind the wait if it gives people the chance to participate. ))

(( I'd very much like to join with my Padawan! I'm happy to have Padawan Aava filling either of the three roles mentioned—though the only "somewhat unusual" skill is Ship Mechanic, so it might be better for Aava to be the responsible one. I'll wait a bit with an IC post because it's weird being the stranded one and having an introduction post anyway... ))

(( I'm also fine with being the responsible padawan if necessary. I'll let the ST decide. ))

(( @Gerben: but I wouldn't have had the view (which was amazing even without the added bonus of the construction of an off-shore windpark in the distance) ))

(( Since there are plenty of other participants now, me joining won't be necessary. I wish you all good luck and lots of fun! ))

Edit by (): Forgot OOC brackets

(( I'm fine with playing any role for this mission ))

I believe the following roles would be best:

If there are no objections, I will send an information package to each of you tomorrow and make a second opening post then to get us started.

Having finished her Zero-G mobility training in the Ducleron system, Kial was enjoying a drink in a cantina on a space station as she waited for her ride back to Unity.

She sat, by herself, in a booth against the wall across the bar. Her lightsaber lay on the table in front of her in plain view. As she sipped her drink, she subtly looked around the cantina.

Kial kept quietly observing her surroundings as she waited.

After recieving the keys to the Alula and their intended destination, Macuy went to the Hanger to prepare the Alula for flight to the Ducleron, while he considered his options with regards to the clouds of dust particles in Ducleron system's Oort Cloud that might present a problem to the ship's systems and navigation.

Consulting the starcharts within the temple library was probably a good idea, but first he wanted to check out the ship he would be flighing.

Padawan Aava walks to the Alula, carrying with her a cube-shaped package that is about 30 centimeters on each side.

Once aboard, she puts down the package on the table in the main bay. She opens up the brown paper and checks the condition of the package, adjusting the containers control system if needed.

Then she goes looking for Padawan Macuy, whom she expects to be somewhere in the ship.

"Hello, I'm Aava", she greets him, "I need to tell you some things about the special package I have received... And since the Alula really needs a crew of two, maybe you can tell me what I can do to help? I do have pilot training so you don't need to go slow."

"Hello Avaa," Macuy said as he met the young padawan he was traveling with whilest comming out of the Alula's cockpit, "My name is Macuy, nice to meet you."

He then continued to tell her about their destination.

"Our destination is the Ducleron System, specifically a space station above one of the Gas Giants. The problem, however, is the dust particles in the system's Oort Cloud. They might mess up the navigational array.

I was considering consulting the star charts in the Library, just in case. Do you have any suggestions?"

"Consulting the library sounds like a good plan."

"I might also be able to adjust the ship's sensors to better cope with the specifics of the system, though I would need to know more about the system and the kinds of problems we expect."

"Let's go have a look in the library", she says as she picks up the brown-papered package and start off towards the library.

"Let's go and have a look then." Macuy said as they left the ship and made their way to the Library.

Noticing Avaa was carrying around the package, Macuy offered to help out.

"Do you need a hand with that? Or better yet, why not leave it inside the Alula. It's not like the ship is going anywhere right now."

"Thanks, but It's not that heavy. I'll keep it with me for now.

There's a Maridun herb inside, and it's environmental container needs adjusting at least every three hours. So, I will carry it with me for now, as I have no idea how long we will be busy in the library."

She thinks for a moment.

"We should probably come up with some plan to look after it while the other sleeps. Which is roughly the same as with piloting the ship, I think.

For now let's focus on the task at hand. I can explain about the herb once we are underway."

Once they arrive in the library, Aava set down the package where she can keep an eye on it, and started looking up information on the Ducleron system.

"I understand," Macuy responded as Avaa explained what was inside the package.

"Most of our travel time I suspect we'll just be in regular transit, the autopilot should be able to handle that. We can then take turns looking after the herb."

"For though," he said as they arrived at the library, "let us see what we can find."

Meanwhile in the Ducleron system, Kial went over her training once more in her mind.

She thought about how she could best manoeuvre in various different situations. Some of them included combat, but others were about aiding people and rescue.

(( Apologies for my slow replies, I've been struggling with time management for a bit, I hope this will improve soon ))

In the cantina in the Ducleron system, Kial found herself quietly observing. The people here were of the "work hard, party hard" variety, and there was a lot of cheap, high alcohol content liquor. Many of the people here were either asteroid-miners of some sort, and the staff consisted of scantily dressed girls who didn't mind sharing themselves with miners who had struck rich. A place like this might get rowdy, if it wasn't for the two muscular wookies who made it clear such behaviour would not be tolerated.

A handsome young human man with gelled up hair slid in to join Kial at her table. She had seen his face before at the Zero-G mobility training, he had been training with a different instructor.

"Hello there blue girl" he smiled a shiny smile to Kial "I hope the training was everything you expected?" he inquired, though he continued without waiting for an answer "I didn't think I'd ever get rid of my space-sickness, but here I am, with a certificate and everything!"

--

Aava and Macuy made their way into the temple. It didn't really have a proper library, though there was a study area to the left of the main entrance. The star charts there, unfortunately, did not provide much in the way of navigating the Ducleron system's Oort Cloud. They would have to deal with that when they arrived in the system.

The two Padawans were, however, able to find the most direct route to the system itself including a plotted course which they'd be able to feed to the Alula's auto-pilot. It wasn't very advanced, and would require some manual adjustments, but with the course laid in, the auto-pilot would at least be able to ensure only a cursory eye had to be kept on navigation during the main stretch of the trip as the ship itself would do the rest.

With the lack of a proper extended library, that was all they were able to gain here though. With the ship already supplied with food and the likes, it was probably best to get going.

(( If you wish to bring anything else, now would be the time, though I suspect you are all set to go ))

"Well, that's that then." is Aava's reaction to the route they find, "Let's go."

Back in the Alula, she checks the herb's container again for adjustments. She plans on telling Padawan Macuy how to care for the herb while they are en-route.

After making any necessary adjustments she joins Macuy in the cockpit, and assists with pre-flight checks, launch checks, navigating, and handles any communications with Unity while they are leaving.

(( I have the Pilot skill ))

While the phrase 'hello there' reminded her of the name of a certain general she had heard of. She was utterly uninterested in the guy. In fact she didn't like being approached like this in general. Usually her lightsaber was enough to scare people off.

She wanted to tell the guy to piss off, however that would probably be not very jedi-like.

"Congratulations on getting the certificate." She calmly replied, not even bothering to look at the guy, hoping he would take the hint.

She took another sip of her drink, one of the few higher quality drinks served by the cantina. A drink meant to be enjoyed slowly, in small quantities, instead of the drinks meant to be chugged by the bottle like most of the liquors here.

Macuy's reaction was similar to Aava's, however, he chose not to expresses himself so clearly and instead accepted that they weren't able to find anymore. Clearly, the star charts needed to be stocked and improved upon, but that was of later concern.

Coming back into the Alula, he ran the pre-flight and launch checks together with Aava and the manually took the Alula out of the hanger bay and unity city into space. He then entered the course they found into the auto-pilot and let the ship take over while he sat back for a while.

The next storyteller post will be a bit delayed.

Mercury's time is currently filled up completely with work-related things. And while I would take over this thread I am—unfortunately—playing in it myself.

So, I ask for you patience in this thread (and will see if I myself can commit to running another mission without overloading my own timetable ^_^)

Macuy was a skilled pilot and he had Aava for backup and communications, so though they lacked detailed charts, the hyperspace jumps towards the Ducleron system were reasonably uneventful.

Aava was able to give some instructions to Macuy regarding the care for the plant, enough to take over temporarily in an emergency, and during times she was asleep.

The trip was mostly uneventful as it was no doubt expected to be. And soon, they arrived at the systems Oort Cloud, the final part they needed to pass through to get to their destination.

The Oort cloud consisted of debris, dust and particles and the Ducleron's was especially chaotic, sensors revealed. Revealed was perhaps not exactly the right word, as the sensors seemed to keep readjusting, skipping from one observation to another. Clearly some sort of interference was messing with them.

After a short analysis, it became clear the sensors would not be of much use here. They would have to figure out some other way to pass through the area safely.

(( OOC: You can come up with your own method to use to navigate through the area. I will give you results based on the method and details provided, though unless you state otherwise, I'll presume you are at least careful enough to not blindly crash into any large asteroids ^_^ ))

--

"Thanks blue girl!" the young man smiled as if he was quite the charmer "What are you having there? Seems a little strong for a pretty thing like yooouuuuu!?"

The entire station shook chaotically as the artificial gravity disengaged and the lights turned off. Within moments, red emergency lighting came on, and Kial could see clients, cups and cocktail floating around.

There seemed to be some level of panic, though half the patrons were still figuring out whether gravity had turned off or whether the alcohol had finally hit them. One of the scantily clad girls had lost grip of the pole by which she had been dancing and she was now slowly floating up to the second floor.

The very first thing Kial did when the artificial gravity went down was grab her lightsaber off the table and clip it back to her belt.

Next she roughly grabbed the guy who was hitting on her by the collar and pulled his face to about thirty centimetres from her own. With a harsh, stern voice that clearly didn't tolerate any backtalk she spoke to him.

"Here's your chance to impress me. Use your training and check the air vents, see if there's still air flowing through them. If there is, feel free to shout that across the room. If not, come to me and tell me QUIETLY. I need you to do this so we can make sure these people are safe. Now go."

She took a moment to see if he understood before pushing off to get a better view of the cantina. She took a deep breath before shouting out into the cantina.

"Everyone, calm down! Everything is going to be fine."

Her intention was to get everyone's attention and calm them down, at least a little. Her priority was to save as many people as possible and she would need their help to do that.

(( OOC: I am assuming there are air vents on the station and that if they are blowing air that means life support is still online. As that means fresh oxygen-rich air is being circled. Kial's actions will change depending on the status of life support. ))

"Hmm... " Macuy let out a slightly annoyed sound while observing the local situation as they arrived at the Oort Cloud. "Well, that wasn't an over exaggeration by Master Crular, this is an outright mess!"

"These clouds consist of larger and smaller particles and debris, but they usually also have comets passing through that orbit the system's core, perhaps if we are able to line up a trajectory with one of their elliptical orbits, we should be able to find a way through. What I don't know however is whether or not this ship has the necessary processing power to run the calculations.

Alternatively, we could just try to wing it by eye and go slow...

What do you think?" He asked Aava while he considered other options.

"That's a good plan. Seeing how the asteroid's orbit would be somewhat less densely filled with debris."

"I might be able to modify the sensor array to pick up on the residue of such a asteroid's particle trail. That would help to stay in the trajectory. Give me a moment."

She then went to the sensor controls and started adjusting them to pick up the particle residue.

(( Using Ship Mechanic. ))

The young man seemed rather surprised by Kial being suddenly so forceful, but he nodded, and pushed off against the table in the direction of the air vent as Kial attempted to calm everyone down.

There was a moment of confusion and people seemed unsure, but the shaking of the station stopped and with Kial's call out shouting over the noise of people panicking, things seemed to quiet down for a moment, mostly. It was clear people were afraid and not sure what was going on or what to do.

The young man floated back to Kial as the scantily clad girl had managed to grab on to the second floor balcony, drawn in by some miners there who didn't mind the extra company. The young man gave a knowing look to Kial, with a slight shake of the head: no, the air wents weren't working.

--

Meanwhile, Macuy and Aava had their own problems to sort out: orbital calculations. With this many objects each exerting small gravitational effects and bumping into one another, it would be almost impossible to make a detailed calculation.

Fortunately, Aava's skill as a ship mechanic came in quite handy - with the adjusted sensors, they were able to pick up the trail of a comet that frequented the Oort cloud. It was just on its way back in and had left a trail - there'd still be small particles there and the ship would likely need a new coat of paint afterwards, but it would guarantee nothing larger than a grain of sand hitting the ship and essentially guarantee a safe way through.

With that, Macuy set course and not long after, the ship entered into the Ducleron system proper. Here space had cleared up, far fewer particles and dust to disrupt sensors... and communications. An alert went off in the communications panel: an automated distress signal coming from the station they were heading towards!

Kials mind went into overdrive. If both life support and artificial gravity was offline then that meant there was a good possibility there was at least one hull breach. The station might be leaking atmosphere. To make matters worse, there were a lot of people in the confined space of the cantina. That would increase the build up of carbon-dioxide.

She also needed more information about the situation. Was the station hit by an asteroid or were they under attack? Kial needed a sitrep.

She made a quick priority list.

- Spread these people out over a larger portion of the station, to reduce CO2 build up

- Find out what was going on so she could make informed decisions

- Get an idea of were the emergency escape pods and the routes to ship docks were

- Get as many people on this station to safety as possible

- Save the station itself if necessary

Now she had her priorities straight she could act towards those goals. The thoughts had only taken a second at most.

"I need everyone to get out of this cantina and spread out calmly. People with zero-g training, help those who don't." She said loudly. Her voice filled with confidence and authority. "You're all going to be fine. Bartender, can you get me a comm line to the command centre?"

At the last sentence she looked to the bartender. She headed towards the bar next.

On hearing the distress call, Aava immediately started work on resetting the ship's sensor array back to it's original general purpose settings. Without them, they were effectively blind when it came to long range scouting.

"Let's head over there. I'm resetting the sensors so we have an idea of what we're getting into before we get there."

"I agree," Macuy replied after hearing the distress call and Avaa's suggestion, "I'll put the paddle to the metal and see if we can squeeze some additional speed."

He waited a moment for Avaa to make the adjustment to the sensor's and then pushed the engine of the ship to its limit.

"Let's see what this baby can do, we'll make a flyby first."

As they made there approach they would have some time to assess the situation based on the sensor data after which Macuy intended to make a flyby for a visual inspection of the damage to the station and the possible cause.

People started to slowly make their way towards the exit as instructed, Kial's military command style of ordering people around seeming to have some impact to keep everyone calm and orderly.

As she floated her way to the bar, the bartender was unsuccessfully trying the comms. "I can't reach the command center, the comm isn't working" the bartender noted.

When she checked, the comms indeed appeared to be down, stuck without power - cantina comms had probably not been considered a priority system for the emergency power system. Kial did, however, find a physical copy of the evacuation plan, printed on thin foldable plastic. In the hall outside the cantina's main entrance were 3 emergency escape docks which housed escape pods.

As she studied the plans a moment, she got interrupted:

"Uhm, blue girl... " the young man from earlier interjected "You should come see this."

Outside, a large chunk of the station floated by, spinning around its axis in parallel to the cantina. Now Kial wasn't an expert in architecture or space ship engineering, but she was reasonably sure that the part out there was supposed to be connected to the rest of the station.

--

Meanwhile, Macuy pushed the ships engines to their limits to make the jump as fast as possible. He was an experienced pilot, so he was able to make the acceleration without significantly impacting the gravity in the ship, as innertia was prone to do - the ships engines did not like it one bit regardless.

As they made their approach, Aava reset the sensors, giving the Jedi in the Alula a better view of what was going on.

The station they were flying towards had had some sort of explosion or impact event, scattering it into several large pieces which were now drifting apart, as well as a large amount of debris. This was a rather catastrophic failure!

(( OOC: Clarification request: Through what is Kial seeing the station debris? Is it a window, a view screen or is it an emergency force field and is there actually a clear hull breach through which she sees it? ))

(( It is a window looking out into space. She can see the large piece spinning and some minor debris, though she doesn't have the overview of the catastrophy that the other Padawans have from their ship. She doesn't see any hull breaches on her part of the ship, and she's not clear if the entire station fell apart or if her station is just suffering from a case where the front fell off ))

(( Thank you ))

Seeing the debris floating around outside momentarily distracted Kial. Her mind quickly returned to the tasks at hand, though. At least she had some idea of what was going on now.

She headed to the nearest emergency escape dock. She was looking for a computer terminal. If she doesn't find one within the dock she would look inside the nearest escape pod. She wanted to know if she could put people in the pods without launching them, but with life support active. She realized she would also need a head count as there might be more people then available seats on the life pods. To that end she also checked the number of available seats.

After she was done, she returned to the hall and did a quick head count. She compared the count with the amount of seats available...

(( I have the Systems Operator skill if necessary. ))

Whilst taking in what he could see outside of their spacecraft, Macuy considered their options before turning to Avaa.

"Well..." He stated, "this is ongoing to present a problem, given the room we have onboard and the number of people I suspect are on that station wanting to get off as fast as possible.

We also have no real way to contact Padawan Valian, besides for going onto the station and look for her. And that is something I'd rather not do either, given the circumstances."

"That's not the only problem.", Aava replies as she surveys the station through the window. "Mining stations like this normally don't have that high of a power requirement. So they have no power plants or engines that produce enough energy to explode like this."

"You try and find a place where we can dock. I'll see if we are close enough to reach Padawan Kial on the short-range comms."

While Macuy was working on getting the Alula closer to the station, Aava tried to reach Kial via the short-range comms. She knew that, usually, the "short range" of the short range comms was enough to get comms from the surface to the ship; so she surmises that it might punch through whatever kind of interference the explosion kicks up.

"Padawan Kial, come in. Are you there?", she tried to first establish some line of communication. "This is Padawan Aava aboard the Alula. If you hear me, please tell me where in the station you are."

(( So, yeah, the Equipment rules state that everyone has a short-range communicator in their basic gear. But it omits any clarification on what constitutes "short range"... On an unrelated side-note, nobody thought of bringing any equipment from the temple (such as first-aid gear), though in Aava's case I kinda assumed that the plant she cares for counts as her equipment :D ))

"I agree," Macuy responds to Avaa's assessment about the possible cause of the explosion. "Some sort of outside inference is much more likely to have caused this. I'll keep an eye out."

He then proceeded to try and find a place where they could dock.

"I reckon there are a few places we could still dock, though I'd prefer to do it somewhere around the core structure of the station. That is likely to remain stable the longest.

We would then just have to hope Padawan Kial isn't in one of the outer structures."

(( OOC: My apologies for taking so incredibly long to reply on this ))

Kial made her way to the nearest emergency escape dock. The dock had a simple computer, designed to operate even in emergencies and it was operational. They weren't designed to simply provide life support without being launched, but being a system operator, Kial would be able to make them work as such.

Taking a quick but accurate count of the number of people - something her experience on the streets helped her with - she determined there were about 25 people in the cantina, herself included. The three escape pods had seats for 6 each, and they would be able to provide life support for that many. It was going to be a tight squeeze.

Before she could do more, Kials communicator activated: it was Padawan Aava aboard the Alula

(( Short range includes the range you are operating at now ^_^ ))

Macuy meanwhile piloted the Alula closer - any place the docking ring wasn't damaged he'd be able to dock, though the spinning parts would be a tricky coupling as he'd need to start spinning in parallel - that would be a tricky manoeuvre. There might be some chip damage from floating debree banging into the ship, but that would be minor paint damage only, as most of it was not going very fast compared to the rest of the station, and the parts that did had since been flung outwards into space.

The contact from the other padawans couldn't have been better for Kial.

"I read you Alula, impeccable timing. I'm near the stations cantina, close to the outer hull. I can see a large chunk of the station from a nearby window. I'm sorry, I don't have any more details then that."

She wasn't familiar with the station so she had no good idea of her exact position.

"Alula, what's the situation out there? Can you tell if escape pods can safely launch? Can you identify what kind of ships are docked?"

"Alula here. We have not seen any escape pods yet. If any escape pods launched, they are most likely masked by the debris. We'll have to look around to identify docked ships.

The external damage seems consistent with a large impact or explosion event. Stations of this type do not normally have reactors or engines with enough output to overload in this manner.

We will do a sweep of the station to determine docked vessels, determine docking options, and assess structural damage. In the meantime, please determine the life support status of the station."

Aava asks Macuy to do a quick sweep around the station to assess the situation.

Seeing as docking wasn't going to be easy, Macuy explained their options to Avaa:

"I guess I can get us docked, but it's risky maneuver and it certainly isn't going to be pleasant. If it can be avoided I'd rather not risk it. I'll look out for ships that are still docked though and try to assess the level of structural damage."

He then had an idea,

"It would however also be helpful to know where Padawan Valian is. Could you perhaps work your magic with the scanners to locate her? It would narrow the field we would need to survey and monitor substantially."

"That's a negative, Alula. But I have about twenty-four people with me. Please stand by, Alula." Kial replied, hoping Aava would get the hint that life support was down, but she couldn't outright say it without a good chance of panic breaking out. She also hoped the interference in the comm wouldn't mess with her message as it already had caused a miscommunication.

She then turned to the group.

"I need six volunteers to help me look for other people and bring them to safety."

As she waited for volunteers she got back on her comm.

"Alula, how much debris is close to the station? Is it clear of large and fast debris?"

"Almost all of the high-velocity debris has cleared the vicinity of the station, or is falling into the gas giant as we speak. Launching escape pods should be pretty safe. We are currently assessing the situation at the docking ring."

As the Alula flies around, Aava tries to locate the source of the radio transmissions from Padawan Kial. Knowing where she is in the space station will help with extraction.

Being a Ship Mechanic, Aava was able to finetune the sensors to pick up the exact location Kial was broadcasting from. It was a chunk of the station still attached to the main hull by a bent support beam. There was a docking door for escape pods, the Alula was small enough to connect.

Being an experienced Pilot, Macuy would know that he could dock with those escape pods - after all, docking with an escape pod was a mandatory special maneuver to learn during pilot training. The escape pods did not have serious engines, but they would have simple thrusters to be able to clear the debris field to where it would be safe to dock.

One notable detail was that while the Alula had the space to fit them, its life support systems would not be able to support 27 people, it simply wasn't designed for that many.

Kial meanwhile managed to gather six volunteers, including the handsome young man and some of the miners.

"Will you lead us in the search, or will you take care of these folks, blue girl?" the young man inquired

"I'll be along in a minute. You start..." Kial started before stopping mid sentence. "Actually scratch that. You volunteered, so I should be honest with you."

She waved the volunteers closer. She spoke in a hushed voice.

"The escape pods here only have capacity for a total of 18 people. The seven of us and anyone else we find will need to find another way off this piece of junk. I'm going to get the rest of the group here onto the escape pods and launch them."

"After we looked for others we'll move towards the docking ring and find ourselves a ride out of here. We'll make sure we grab any and all escape pods we can find. Our goal is to get as many people as possible safely out of here and that is exactly what we're going to do. Any objections?"

As Kial spoke, she radiated with confidence. Not a single shred of doubt could be detected in either her voice or her body language.

She had also kept her comm link to the Alula open so Aava and Macuy were aware of her plan and the situation inside the station. She trusted her fellow jedi would be able to help her accomplish her goal.

"We simply can't support that many people on the Alula, though we can ferry them off the station. The Alula is small enough to dock at an escape hatch.

Perhaps there is an alternative place we could take them, we should see some help arriving soon. Can we perhaps take them somewhere else in this system?"

The gas giant wasn't an option, nor did Macuy like the odds on the remaining structure of the space station.

(( I'm a bit unclear on whether we finished our sweep around the stations while looking around for docking options, docked vessels and structural damage. So, seeing how I am way too late with my post, I'm assuming we found nothing of interest so far since we do have ST information on docking options and structural damage. ))

"The start charts in the temple were rather uninformative. We might check for moons, and as this is a mining station, there's bound to be mining vessels in the system. One or two of them will most likely be retrofits and have oversized life support systems I could rig to run on high capacity for a while."

She open their side of the radio link, stating to Kial: "Alula to Padawan Kial. You are currently situated in a large chunk of the station, still connected to the main hull with a large bent support beam. Be aware that our radio link will be going down momentarily as we turn around to scan for additional methods of escape."

"Padawan Macuy, we should move out of the debris field for a moment so we can scan for available moons and mining vessels with obstruction."

She then sets to work on the sensors, hoping to counteract some of the debris field's interference with the long-range scan for habitable moons and nearby mining vessels.

"Will do," Macuy responded to the request of Aava to move out of the debris field. As he took the Alula out of the debris field he added to his previous comment, "We should clear the debris field momentarily."

Kial's confidence and skill as a military commander seemed to inspire the volunteers. The situation was pretty grim, but these were the sorts of folk that went into deep space to mine resources. They knew what was what.

"Alright, the blue girl wants you lot to get out of here" the handsome young lad told the remaining folk, who proceeded to climb into the escape pods as directed. The volunteers remained behind, securing the pods and sending them on their way.

--

From the Alula, Macuy and Aava could see the pods being launched, the auto pilot putting them in formation some distance away from the station. They'd be able to get them later, for now those people were safe.

As a trained pilot, Macuy was easily able to manouvre the ship out of the debris to give Aava a clean scan of the system. Aava used her skill as a ship mechanic to compile all the scans into a situation report, incorporating earlier scans with the ones she could make now at a bit more distance (( read: here's the extra info you should have gotten earlier ))

Additional scans of the system showed one additional vessel - an inter-system transport vessel which had been hidden in the debris on the main hull. It was unreachable for Kial, and it looked to have been damaged in the blast as well, but it might be useful still. There were no other vessels operating in the immediate area beyond that.

Of course, there were several mining vessels in the system, just not closeby - it'd take them a while to get here though, those ships were not built for speed so for now they were on their own. They would likely have the capacity to support additional people though, until rescue could come from outside the system. Trick was getting the people there.

One more fact came up from the scan, and it wasn't good news... the cantina - and the connected corridors and rooms - was the only area of the station that still had an atmosphere. Anyone in other parts of the station would not have survived.

--

Unaware of that fact, Kial and the volunteers went deeper into the structure to find any other survivors - as they were exploring the part of the station that did have an atmosphere, they might still be able to find someone.

Spreading out in small teams, they combed out the area's of the station they could reach. The miners had some training, checking to see the state of the atmosphere on the other side before opening doors and such things. Carefully, the rest of the station was explored and checked, though they did not find any others.

Kial did however, finding a low gravity medbay. Inside, two rodians were laying on beds, a nurse tending to them, the only other survivors besides the cantina group

"Are you the rescue party?" she inquired as she hopped towards Kial. Low gravity made normal walking awkward "These two men are suffering from gravitational disphasia - I've been trying to get them ready for evacuation, but without something to deal with the sickness, they cannot be moved." she explained

As the results of the scans came in, a plan started to form in Macuy's mind.

"I think it would be good to inform at least some of the miners of what has happened here, they might be able to offer some useful assistance later. But that transport ship might just be what we need if we can get there, and assuming she can still fly."

"We need to try and get you on that ship," He said to Avaa, whilst considering their options how to get her there. Given that the main body of the station longer had an atmosphere, simply docking next to it probably wouldn't do it. But the escape pods just might do the trick.

"I reckon our best bet to make that happen, is by using one of the escape pods to dock directly with the ship. Unless you have an alternative?"

He asked Avaa as he presented his plan.

"Well, there might be people in there. Though I would expect radio comms if there were."

"Escape pods are filled with panicked people, and designed to hold out for a while. If you get us close to the other vessel, I can hop over and see how we can best use it. usually inter-system vessels have an oversized life-support system.

While I am over there, you'll have to move around a bit to radio the miners, and to inform padawan Kial of the situation."

While Macuy is maneuvering towards the newly discovered vessel, Aava checks the plant's container and fiddles with the settings until they are adjusted again.

She then dons one of the emergency envirosuits, which will allow her to make a small hop through space.

Her plan is to get aboard the inter-system vessel and head for the bridge. There, she wants to determine the vessel's status. If that does not give her the status and capacity of the life-support systems she will move on to the engineering section of the vessel and determine the life support status by hand.

Kial gave a quick look at the two rodians. Then she looked back to the nurse. For a moment she wondered if space station standards for the UPT where just above average or if this station was just being mismanaged and substandard. She quickly stopped dwelling on it and decided to request a formal investigation when she was back on Unity.

"Do you have oxygen tanks here?" She asked the nurse. "If so please take them out. Along with any masks for them. We're gonna have to move your patients regardless. Cause I have no idea when or even if an official rescue party is going to get here and we do not have time to wait."

Macuy carefully maneuvered the Alula towards the shuttle as Aava readied for some extra vehicular activity.

Macuy was be able to radio the mining vessels for help, explaining the situation. Two mining vessels responded, one sending two shuttles and the other coming in with their main cargo hauler. They'd also send a signal back to Unity City for additional rescue and salvage of the station.

All of that would take its sweet time, however. For now, that left the priorities of the Jedi clear: get the remaining people on the station out of there and into something that could support them. If they managed that, the rest of the rescue would be handled.

Aava struggled getting everything ready. Lacking zero-g training meant this would be a problematic task. She likely wouldn't be able to do much beyond the most basic tasks. Perhaps it would be enough though - pushing off from the Alula's airlock to the station and shuttle was possible, if Macuy could manoeuvre up close enough.

However, from there, she'd need to get inside, and there was more than a bit of risk there - the shuttle didn't appear to have a door facing out to space.

Luckily, Aava was a Ship Mechanic, so she had a trick up her sleeve. Shuttles like these usually had a maintanence hatch of some sort, to work on the ships internal components while it was in drydock. From there, she would be able to squeeze in through a panel in the shuttles airlock.

One problem was it would be a tight squeeze, but she wasn't very big so she'd probably be able to fit. It was a risk - but Aava had climbed into shuttles like these before, so she'd know what she was doing. In either case, she was soon suited up in a space suit and ready to give it a go.

Back on the station, the nurse nodded, taking out two oxygen tanks and matching masks - it wasn't a lot, but it would have to do.

"We'll do our best, though they need some sort of treatment..." the nurse made note "for now, someone will have to help them move, I cannot do it on my own."

Luckily, the other volunteers soon gathered, having searched the rest of the station. Together, they could easily carry the Rodians, bed included, towards the docking bays which had held the escape pods at one time. If only there was a shuttle there.

Kial nodded she understood to the nurse. She immediately proceeded to help the nurse move the two Rodians.

After they met up with the rest of the volunteers, she started to move the group towards the docking bays. As they moved she contacted the Alula.

"Valian to Alula. I have two sick Rodians with me that need immediate pickup. We're moving to the escape pod docking bays. Please meet us there to take the sick onboard ASAP. I could also use a sitrep, have you found something to get the rest of us out of here yet?"

Aava readies herself for the zero-g environment, mostly by trying to keep calm and steady by focusing on her breathing. She has only the most rudimentary of zero-g training as part of her childhood education, and mostly hopes to get into the other shuttle quickly.

As Macuy manoeuvres closer to the shuttle, padawan Kial radios in again. "Just go over there the moment I am safely inside the shuttle", she tells padawan Macuy over the radio as she steps into the airlock.

Once the manoeuvering stops, she attempts to carefully push off towards the other shuttle!

"I will," Macuy replied whilst he maneuvered the Alula as close to the docked shuttle as possible, taking care to match the stations the station's speed and rotation so that their alignment was the best as he could get it.

After Avaa pushed off, Macuy waited to see if she could safely reach the shuttle, after which he would pull the next maneuver, which was to attempt a docking with the Cantina, in to pick up the sick Rodians. The others would then have to wait until Avaa had managed to get the cargo ship operational.

He also informed Kial of his intentions and their current situation.

"We have contacted some miners in the area, they have sent aid and will also contact Unity. It will be a while before they are here though, so we are on our own for the moment.

We have located a transport ship that is still docked at the station, padawan Avaa is currently attempting to get it operational so that we can get all of you out safely."

(( My apologies for the unacceptably long response time, there's really no excuse ))

Kial and the rest of the volunteers carefully moved the Rodians towards the escape pod, carrying them most of the way - fortunately the miners were physically quite fit, and the Rodians not too heavy, so they soon managed to bring the group to the escape pod dock. The escape pods, of course, were already launched, so they had to wait a moment while Macuy maneuvered the Alula.

Elsewhere on what remained on the station, Aava landed on the shuttle craft, trying to grab on but instead bouncing against it. Lacking zero-g training made this whole endeavor a lot more difficult - not to mention dangerous!

Bouncing off, she almost got sent off to a different part of the station, but just as she was about to drift off, she managed to grab a handhold, normally used by engineers to get on top of the shuttle in a docking bay. That could have been bad, but she made it.

It took her a moment to reorient herself as the bounce had messed up the "up" and "down" situation, but eventually she was able find her way to the entry hatch. This whole situation was far from ideal.

Finally, the determined padawan worked her way into the shuttle through the maintenance hatch into the airlock and then into the shuttle proper. The climb through the internals was rather tight, and there were some components in the way of the route. Regardless, Aava was able use a wrench to take out some of the shuttles non-critical components to clear a path, tossing them out with the rest of the stations junk - they could do without the espresso machine and air freshener (not to be confused with the air filter next to it) and someone would clean up the debris eventually anyway.

Once inside, Aava made her way to the controls and being a capable pilot in her own right, she soon got the shuttle started up and flying out of its docking position.

Macuy had waited for Aava to get inside, though he didn't wait for the espresso machine to be tossed into space, instead making his way to the escape pod hatch where Kial and the rescue party were waiting with the Rodians. Docking there was a careful maneuver that posed little difficulty for him, and soon the Alula was docked with the Cantina.

The miners helped carry the Rodians onto the Alula - it wouldn't have the life support capacity for everyone though, so Aava's shuttle was sorely needed.

As soon as the ship was docked Macuy helped to get the Rodians and the nurse inside, though sadly the Alulu didn't have any medical supplies.

"I'm sorry," he stated to the miners and Kial, "but this ship can't support this much people, so you'll have to wait for Aava and the transport shuttle, she should dock here momentarily once I've cleared the hatch again."

He then contacted Aava over their comms, ".. I've taken on two injured crew and a nurse. Once I clear the hatch, you should be able to pick up Kial and the others."

Kial helped settle the nurse settle the two Rodians on the Alula. She also took the chance to get a few deep breaths, having kept her breathing to a minimum on the station.

She also made sure the other volunteers got a few breaths of good air as well, letting them go in one at a time. She kept the oxygen tanks as a back up plan.

As she did another headcount of the volunteers making sure they hadn't stuck onboard the Alula. Then closed the airlock behind her. She then keyed her comm to both Aava and Macuy.

"Macuy, I think you should head straight to Unity. Tell the Council and the proper authorities what has happened. Also tell them I would like request a full investigation into the cause of this incident, as I have reason to believe the station was improperly maintained and supplied. It may have been constructed bellow minimum safety standards."

"Aava, after you've picked us up I think we should wait for the miner vessels to arrive to take over care of the escape pods. After that we can head back to Unity as well. We could also head straight to Unity after you pick us up, but I would rather keep an eye on the escape pods."

"Assuming you both agree that is."

Kial explained what she believed to be the best course of action, but she would go along if the other two wanted to do something different.

"I agree, we should keep an eye on the escape pods and help out where we can.", Aava replied over the radio.

She waits for the Alula to clear the docking hatch to dock her shuttle.

Where possible she helps people aboard. Once everyone is safely aboard she releases the docking clamps. She moves the shuttle to a safe distance from the station fragments, getting a good view of the escape pods.

"Macuy, if you have the opportunity, please check and adjust the plant's environmental container if possible", she radios over the comms as he prepares to leave.

"I'll make sure to do that momentarily," Macuy responded, as he too cleared the debris by increasing his distance to the station, "I'm preparing the ship for the transit to Unity, unless you want me to stay here..."

Macuy was able to tend to the plant, having received instructions from Aava as to how to do so earlier in the mission. With everyone off the station and enough life support due to the extra shuttle, they were able to breathe easy for a while.

Eventually the mining ships started coming in, bringing backup and further support, taking on survivors. One of the larger vessels even had a med bay for the Rodians. They had made it through!

From here, there would be various hoops to be jumped through, reports to be filed, travels back to Unity to be planned, but that was routine and eventually they would be able to continue back to Unity to complete their mission and deliver Padawan Kial back to the Jedi Temple!

I believe this is a good point to round off with you having saved the survivors. This also gives me a chance to start some brand new content as the two current missions have completed.

This mission is completed. You each receive +5 Training Points! Additionally, the miners are grateful for the rescue. This may become relevant in future missions.

I also created a mission page in the wiki (Fetching Padawan), which could use some content if one of you feels up to writing a report. Since I've been rather unacceptably slow at times, I can do it as well if need be.

I sloppily omitted mentioning that you are also allowed to move a virtue point based on the mission! This allows you to work towards various Force Philosophies! Let me know about any move, I'm sure it can be approved :)

(( I have started the report but haven't finished it yet. I will try to continue within a few days ))

I would like to move a point from Selfishness to Serenity. I think this is motivated by Aava leaving the safety of the ship to make her way over, and in to, the shuttle. Even though that was not a guaranteed success given her lack of training, she did so calmly and controlled.

I would like to move a point from Ruthlessness to Benevolence, more or less motivated by the fact that Macuy (and Avaa) worked with Kial to no only get Kial out but also save all the wounded and others trapped at the station, whilst also alerting the Miners in the systems that something had happened to their station.

I have finished the report. And I would like to move a point from Obsession to Righteousness. This is motivated because Kial initially wants to lie against the volunteers, but then decides to tell them the truth because she believes that is the right thing to do. Since the volunteers react positively to this, (by not unvolunteering) Her belief that doing the right thing over the quick and easy way (in this case lying) is better is thereby reinforced.

I noticed I had not yet approved the virtue moves for this mission. I approve each of them, but I want to make an explicit note that I am not merely waving everything by, but that I am positively surprised by the sensible arguments behind them and that this has boosted my confidence that this system works well, so kudo's!

Additionally, a note of thanks for the report!
