Kew Gardens

Kew Gardens

Lies in: London

The Kew Gardens, also known as Kew Park, is a 121 hectares area of gardens and botanical glass houses, with over 40 large buildings, a collection of 30.000 species of plants, a large herbarium and a library with over a hundred thousand books.

The gardens grew from an exotic garden founded in 1759 and the current organization was founded in 1840. It employs several dozen scientists and over a thousand people in total, and is connected to the University of Oxford.

The location was originally controlled by Clan Trilion and has been used for prestigious events in the Kindred community, making it a desirable location to own. As a result, Clan Angliae has succesfully made an attempt to get a hold of it, and has appointed Lady Gallorett as the caretaker.

Courtesies

Lady Gallorett, as the Keeper of Kew Gardens, declared the following Courtesies of Kew Gardens, the rules she expects to be followed by those that wish to visit the gardens, or host events in the gardens:

  • All kindred are welcome, regardless of clan. While in the gardens please remember that you are considered the cordial guest of His Majesty, Clan Angliae, and the Keeper of Kew Gardens.
  • Genteel behavior is expected at all times within Kew Gardens. A visitor shall not unduly raise their voice, use coarse language, or damage anything within the gardens.
  • There will be no violence done inside the gardens, nor will disciplines of the blood be used on others within the gardens.
  • Protect and maintain the peace of the masquerade within the gardens, and bring to the attention of the Keeper such situations that could endanger this peace.
  • There shall be no feeding nor the use of disciplines of the blood on the Kew Gardens Constabulary or on those in the employ of the gardens, nor will they be hindered in their duties.
  • Lady visitors to the gardens will be accorded every courtesy. They shall be allowed to conduct themselves without interference, and will not be fed upon, nor waylaid by any.
  • Gatherings and festivities may be organized in the gardens at the discretion of the Keeper. Unless so declared by the Keeper in person, the courtesies of Kew Gardens remain in effect at such events.
  • Those unable to abide by these courtesies will know the Keepers' displeasure, and be banished from the gardens for a year and a day.
  • Only the Prince, the Primogen of Clan Angliae, and the Keeper of Kew Gardens are exempt from these rules, as are those they designate.

These courtesies are enforced by The Wraith, and all those that violate them will be expelled.

Damascena Botanical Laboratory

The Damascena Botanical Laboratory, named after the Rosa damascena also known as the Damask rose, was constructed after a sizable donation of 2000 pounds in May 1875. The donation, by Lady Gallorett, was made with the intent to support the scientific research performed at the gardens themselves. The Damascena laboratory consists of four research rooms and an office.
