Character History

Anja had only ever had one dream as she was growing up. She wanted to be a doctor, to heal others. Even as a young child, she would pretend to heal her stuffed animals and her parents, acting like she was taking temperatures or finding their pulse. She was excited when she was 9 and was told she was having a little brother and excited again when she was told her mother was pregnant again when she was 14 and had twins. She loved to help out with them and play with them, even as she got older.

She kept her grades up, trying to give herself the best chance to go to college and realize her dream of being a doctor. Most would call her upbringing idyllic. Her parents were tough and kept them disciplined, but they were very close. She split time between family, school, and her friends. She and her best friend were almost joined at the hip. If her friend wasn’t found at her own home, then Anja was over at her house, along with a row of bikes from the MC her father was a member of. That was where she met Dag Asulf.

Dreams don’t always come true, though. Her mother and father were called out to fight. She took care of the children but her parents hadn’t returned by the next morning, or the next. She grabbed the go bags and started begging a place to stay, knowing the apartment wouldn’t last for long and probably wasn’t safe, anyway. She went from place to place as she could, knowing she could have turned her siblings into CPS and have a chance to really study, get a scholarship, go to college… She couldn’t stand the thought of being separated from her family, though. She worked first odd jobs, then found a permanent one, getting a studio of their own and finishing school. She took as many AP classes as she could manage, one less expense later. She had gotten in contact with Wilhelmina Elliot and though they'd only stayed a few nights there, she'd also gotten a job at the veterinary clinic, mostly in the front, but she savored every opportunity to actually work with the animals.

She works as much as she has to in order to make sure her siblings are taken care of. Some of their favorite Anja time is when she tells stories of their ancestors. Inge "Blade of Thunder" Thorrsdotter, an Ahroun Athro [Laerer Modi] who had outsmarted a spirit ridden man who came to seduce the women of her village when the men were on the sea a-viking. Raganvaldr "Whispers On The Sea", Elder Theurge [Eldre Godi] who convinced the water and air spirits to bring them to land, though it was in the Americas, not home as he intended. Bjarni Herjólfsson was not amused, but told Lief Erikson when they returned. Sigvard "Passes Like Wind" Hansson, Athro Ragabash [Laerer Rotogar] snuck into the camp of raiders come a-viking from Norway and stole almost every weapon, all the supplies and cut the throats of the leaders. While he was working, he saw a beautiful kinfolk that he couldn't get out of his mind. He saw Olja Svensdotter again when the party came to his village on the premise that it was a diplomatic mission and their supplies had been washed away in a flood. He negotiated for her to stay with him as a hostage to ensure there were no tricks on their side. Despite her precarious position, they grew on eachother. There was mutual respect, but they mostly tolerated each other. That is until many of their warriors were off raiding and most of the others were on a hunting trip. The village was attacked and Olja was key in protecting the women and children, helping to fend off skullpigs that were trying to take advantage. She actually managed to kill one and injure another, though she herself was injured as well. Sigvard nursed her back to health and as he did, they fell in love. Still, when she discovered she was pregnant, she wouldn’t allow her child to grow up in captivity and escaped to go home. They spent almost the next two decades running from or to each other and trading being each other's captives. It was rare that kinfolk were remembered in the histories, but Olja and her Sigvard were.

On the other side of the family, there was Adolf Beirbakker “Smashes Through Evil” a Fostern Ahroun [Voksen Modi] who was helping with manual labor laying track for the railroad when their blasting released an ancient evil and he helped the local tribe with connections to the Wendigo destroy it. There was also Claus Dermaug “Vengence of Father’s Heart” a Athro Philodox [Laerer Forseti] who hunted Nazis and destroyed key positions in hopes of bringing the war to a faster close. Gustav Ahlberg “Victorious Blood” Athro Ahroun [Laerer Modi] who protected his district by leading men in an offensive when they were about to attack, ambushing them and killing them except for 5 men he sent back to tell them to leave their district alone. He used similar tactics against the Wyrm. Eydis Lindholm “Masked Love of the Ruthless Face” seduced vampires and those who misused their status to hurt the people they were responsible for.

Local Derangement: Obsessive Compulsive - when she’s anxious, she starts checking locks over and over, food supply, making sure the children are okay, checking vital signs, cleaning, availability of go bags… over and over. She also detangles and pulls at her hair.
