Alaine is a native New Yorker. She grew up poor in the Bronx, far enough from downtown that there were abandoned tenements down the road and no one wanted to be out late at night. At first, it was her athletic ability that helped her stand out from others in her area. She was a loud, outspoken child and a bit of a bully; awakening to her Fae legacy didn't immediately help matters.

However, Alaine's size, strength, and unique stature were enough to draw attention from the people around her. Granite-skinned, winged, and as tall as any male troll, the word that sometimes came to mind was angelic - not in raw beauty, but in form. The walking statue of an angel is an omen that inspires many dreams. At first, she resisted but their words did worm their way into her head. She could be someone great. But what did that really mean?

It echoed something Alaine's mother had said to her many times. That she had to do and be better because her community was only strong when they worked together. This was reinforced when a particularly cruel Sidhe tried to force Alaine to serve him as a warrior thanks to her size and strength. When she finally wormed away she decided that community was her ideal to aspire to and set out. She protected and trained the younger Fae, earning a bit of a reputation for her reliability and generosity - and they helped her too, by being there, working, and providing.

Professional sports proved too time-consuming a profession with Alaine's other chosen responsibilities, so she decided to become a firefighter. With her strength and stamina, it wasn't difficult to find a place in a firehouse.

When Thallain threatened Alaine and her motley she had no one to turn to for help. Several died, but she rescued the chilling Boggan, Rowan. In desperation, she took Rowan with her went to the Beaumayn Countess in New York City to ask their help, knowing they hunted Thallain and professed to do so for anyone who seemed worthy. Monster hunters and mystics. They saw something in Alaine herself because the boon asked of her to render aid was simple - her sword. She gladly joined the service of Countess Vivienne in exchange for her aid.

Soon enough, Alaine herself was a member of House Beaumayn, on a quest to prove herself a worthy Knight and save New York City with Rowan in tow.

Alaine's fae mien is a statue of an angel. It is entirely composed of black and grey marbled granite, sculpted muscles forming an impression of power and strength, mostly hidden beneath a tunic and tights. It stands taller than most trolls with short-cropped black hair, two long spiral horns emerging from their forehead. Broad, powerful white wings stretch from its back, ready to take them toward the sky should the moment arise. It keeps a sword too large to be worn at the belt by a normal person at their side. A beautiful piece of art, even if it is perhaps too rugged to be a person. Then she moves and the spell is broken, and one realizes a person she is indeed.
