Sea Sphere

Final version of removed Sea Sphere
Table of Contents

The Sea Sphere DM is responsible for the high seas, including managing ships and sea-based adventures and the Mer Kingdom.

Adventure Frequency: Once a month

Skills: Good knowledge of the ocean and life on the high seas, pirates etc

Bookkeeping

You are responsible for all bookkeeping and paperwork related to the following:

Fleet Tracking

If players want to buy a ship, they must come to you. You keep track of which ships are out there and who owns them on the Ships Roster.

For each ship, you track the ships reputation among sailors, which in turn influences the crew a captain can attract to man his vessel. Reputation is earned in High Seas adventure

For every points of Reputation, better crew joins the vessel (and existing crew gains more experience), giving a +1 bonus on all Profession: Sailor checks made with the vessel. This stacks up to a maximum of +5.

High Seas Adventure

At least every other month, so six times a year, you should run a High Seas adventure. A High Seas adventure should be announced ahead of time and should offer room for multiple players with ships to participate.

They can include such things as the sighting of a Kraken, a sailing ship race, dealing with pirates, etc.

Naturally players without ships may also join, but a special option should be available to benefit players with ships.

Upon successful completion of the adventure, players who came along with their ship earn reputation for their vessel.

Mer Kingdom

You are responsible for the Mer Kingdom, including the Aquatic Embassy, and should give an occasional glimpse of their existence, either using them directly or showing traces of them in your adventures.

You may decide on events in the Mer Kingdom, and should track players who have earned a good reputation with the Mer Kingdom. At your discretion, you may grant a player the "Mer-Friend" status if they have served the Mer Kingdom particularly well, giving them a +2 Diplomacy bonus when dealing with Merfolk.
