Falling Star hits the city!

No tags

A rumour has spread through Duirt that a star has fallen down and landed in the city. Though the Ivory Tower has refused to confirm, talk in the Golden Lion is that the star, Avril Piscium A, fell down shortly after midnight last night and landed somewhere in the Central Quarter.

A reward of 5.000 gold pieces has been offered for the person to find the star. An additional reward is offered for any information on how to put it back.

OOC: If your character wants to help look for the star, please post which part or parts of the Central Quarter they will search and in your post, roll a Perception check.

You can participate with as many characters as you want, but your characters cannot aid one another and cannot search in the same parts of the Central Quarter.

For a list of places in the central quarter see Central Quarter

Milo knew from speaking with his Professors that the lights in the night sky are indeed called Stars and he learned they do indeed on occasion Fall. He goes out to the Market Square in the Central Quarter and searches the area in particular the Well. Though he does not exclude other areas of the Market.

Roll:
Milo Frost (Perception): 16 = 1d20 [1] + 15

Byrony is intrigued - to say the least. She heads to the hill of belief, thinking this will be the best chance to catch a glimpse of a fallen star. She wasn’t even sure what she was looking for but she would definitely try - quietly of course.

Roll:
Freeform: 32 = 1d20 [19] + 13

His wife Byrony on the hunt he smiles takes the children in a front and back pack and is off on his own looking a bit around town. Giving their kids a bit of adventure and telling them sea stories as they go. Heading for the waters first of course. Exploring Abalone Beach, collecting shells as they go.

Roll:
Baele Kraken (Perception): 20 = 1d20 [8] + 12

Hearing about the star he starts from the top down. Scaling the Clock tower, for even if it didn't land there, surely the star might be visible from there at least.

Roll:
Leigh (Perception): 24 = 1d20 [8] + 16

Sulan had been spending quite a bit of time in the Maze "on patrol" as it were. She would start her search there and see what she could find

Roll:
Sulan (Perception): 20 = 1d20 [2] + 18

The Merout lad would search the canals along the Central Quarter, seeing if maybe anything had happened into the waterways along the shipping paths.

Roll:
Krystoph Merout (Perception): 20 = 1d20 [17] + 3 Sailor

Ai knows what stars are, and what usually is meant by falling stars. So the fact that there isn't widespread destruction has him curious to find what really did fall. So he checks Heroes Park.

Roll:
Ai'Thorn Hura (Perception): 25 = 1d20 [15] + 10

The heroes heroically searched the central quarter, but unfortunately, the star remained elusive and none of them were able to find it...

What they did find was that the Golden Lion had warm drinks waiting for them, on the house. Apparently, a rascal had planted the rumour of the reward - but upon further investigation, no such reward was out there and nobody specific was offering it.

It did make one wonder though - what had happened to Avril Piscium A? Had it really fallen, or was it still up there? Did such a star even exist?

My hints were perhaps a bit too subtle but:

April Fools! - Luci made you fall for an April Fools joke on Novus Utum ^_^

Since you were all such good sports, I'll be granting everyone who participated an xp reward... and I will remember this kind of thing is exciting so I'll work on a forum event that isn't an April fools joke in the near future :)

Selene pulls out her starcharts. "The constellation of Piscium does indeed exist but ... upon investigation, there is no such star as Avril. But yes ... Avril Piscium, April Fish."

She sighs.

"I should have checked with Father first"
