The city starts to rebuild.

No tags

Two months to the day since the Savage Horde laid Siege to the city; Duirt is still in the midst of repairs. The whole of the city is facing repairs.

Central District

The Clock Tower: For the first time in centuries since it's construction; the Clock Tower is silent. Every day, on every Hour, the Tower's bell would ring. A background noise that many people just over looked, now the silence is deafening. The Tower is mostly still standing with some sections fallen, but the true tragedy is the tower's famous bell. Said to have been forged from Bronze of a Dragon's Scales, the bell was cracked along it's thick side. The crack is easily big enough to fit a person's head in and thus the bell remains silent. City officials claim not to have the Bronze needed to repair the Town's famed Bell.

Abalone Beach: Once set aside for a spot of beauty and romance, the stunning beach now lays in ruin. Though true you can not ruin sand, the beach is in any case unusable. Small and Large sections of wrecks have washed upon the beach making the once beautiful land; ugly. Corpses long washed up on the beach were ignored as city officials claimed more 'important' sections of the city need to be fixed first. The Corpses were never moved as as such slowly decompose on the sand, producing all manner of winged sea birds that feed on the corpses and leave their droppings.

Duirt's Folly Arena The majestic fighting arena was left mostly untouched as the fighting of the Siege was forced away from the arena. As such it only suffered minor damage and is quickly being repaired by the Gladiators.

First Crossing Once a stunning work of architecture, the First Crossing was where; Legends say, Ermis Tenderfoot the Great first made his crossing into the city, victorious. It now lays in ruins. The bridge itself has been repaired but more than 2/3rds of the buildings on it were destroyed with half of them in the process of being repaired. Workers say it may take a year or longer without the aid of magic to fully repair the buildings and restore the bridge to it's original glory.

Golden Lion Tavern and Inn A privately owned establishment was rebuilt after sustaining major damage by it's magical owners. The City officials remain upset that the Inn was repaired so quickly but the rest of the city remains damaged.

Heroes Park Once a stunning gesture to the Heroes of the city where the citizens can pay their respects was all but destroyed. The lovely benches and the stunning statues of our fallen heroes were broken and knocked over. Private members of certain noble houses are working around the clock to restore the park to it's former glory working hard to repair or remake new statues for the people to gaze upon.

Hill of Belief The Hill of Belief, though largely ceremonial was utterly and completely destroyed when a massive beast tunneled under it and caused it and a large portion of the district to fall in. Thousands were killed in the event. City officials have not said if it will be repaired given it's history. The massive crater was cleared out of rubble but remains a massive empty hole with barricades to prevent people from falling in.

Hunters Refuge Another privately owned building that was damaged has been repaired magically by it's owner. Though citizens welcome a place to go for meals and enjoyment wonder why the rest of the city remains in ruins.

Market Street More than 3/4ths of the Market was destroyed in the battle. The famous well is gone where now remains a massive hole with rubble filled it in. Workers continue night and day to fix the damage so the people may once again enjoy it. Though anger rises from Citizens as the Doge whom now claims ownership of the District refuses to put any work into the actual repair of the District.

Maze Long neglected by city officials with the poor and downcast living there. After the battle the Maze is now a massive lake. Near all of the Maze was sunken down and the ocean swept in to fill it up. Private citizens work to construct a docks and to attempt to better the site. Hundreds mourn the dead and cry out in Anger for the city that will do nothing to help. Mother, grows in power here with many of the downcast go to get help.

Traders Lane Another portion of the Market that was destroyed and remains as such. Claimed by the Doge of the Republic, the area remains neglected and in ruins. Citizens cry out for aid from city officials but get only excuses that they can do nothing only the Doge can.

Weavers Path Yet another portion of the Market claimed by the Doge of the Republic, this section of the Market was once reserved for textiles and makers of beautiful clothing. The area was partially destroyed by the Horde and remains this way. Citizens cry out for aid from City Officials but get no help. Here as well Mother gains more followers as the area remains neglected.

East Quarter

Dead Dog Tavern and Inn Once owned by Dina Jekins and Griina Jekins, Daughter to Rufois Jekins. The daughters Jekins were killed in the Siege. The building was partially destroyed and reclaimed by Vorus. Mage Workers work hard to repair the building to it's former glory. The Tavern will be run by a new owner and will never truly be the same again. Tow monuments to the Jekins Daughters were erected here for their sacrifice.

Grand Square Owned by House Ferency, the last 15 years saw the House members work hard to bring glory back to this region of the city. A place where Students of the Ivory Tower can live and relax. The Square was destroyed in the Siege killed hundreds of students giving their lives to protect the city. House Ferency put all it's magical efforts into restoring the Square. They worked much harder to identify each student killed in the Siege and erect an Obsidian Monolith with the inscriptions of those that sacrificed themselves for the city.

Obsidian Monolith One Hundred and Ten feet tall, made of solid obsidian the Monolith stands as a testament to the lives of the students that were killed protecting the city during the Horde attack. Over night, roses have been planted by mourners of those fallen.

Great Library Owned by House Treny the Great Library has stood for more than three centuries and has protected the city's most rare and mystical Tomes. During the Siege the Library was damaged and looted by Horde Savages. Head Librarian: Shia Rasey, worked a true miracle as she was able to bring back all of the stolen tomes and documents. How this was done remains a mystery.

Ivory Tower Seat of Power for South Vorus, Housing all the Masters of the city and thousands of mysterious arcane objects. It has stood for a thousand years and was the most protected object during the Siege. The Tower itself sustained barely any damage at all and that was quickly repaired with the full power of all the Arcane users of the Tower. The Grounds around the Tower received massive damage but was repaired by the Tower Masters.

Market of Tears Market place where thousands of slaves are sold daily, the Market sustained next to no damage as Slaves were used to defend the area while arcanists where used to keep damage away from it. Even though it survived mostly unharmed during the Siege, recently a group of slaves escaped and incited a Riot in the rumors Slave Tunnels putting the Market closed down for the first time in decades.

Necropolis City burial grounds for the city of Duirt remained untouched by the Horde Savages believing the area cursed. Rumors abound House Demha has a Legion of Undead protecting the burial grounds but no proof has been discovered.

Ratways Much like the Maze; the Ratways housed the city Homeless. And much like the Maze the area was utterly destroyed. No hole remains here only a massive amount of Rubble and Corpses of those that remained unnamed. Unlikely the Maze, no outcry comes from the citizens for this area. Next to no mourners were seen here and as yet the city has made no effort to rebuild it.

Redeemed Succubis Another privately owned Tea House, the structure was partially damaged and quickly rebuilt by the Arcane owner. Rich and Powerful the patrons of the Teahouse are thankful for the repair of the building so they can read their Tomes and drink expensive teas.

Royal Armory The second most protected building in South Vorus, the Armory took very little damage as it was highly protected from the Siege. Many citizens are angry that this building was protected and the Grand Square was not.

White Tower Gate Overlooking the East Road for centuries, the Tower was destroyed utterly when a massive underground creature borrowed under it causing it to collapse. Hundreds of citizens died in it's collapsed and hundreds more died trying to dig people out. Today the dead have finally been retrieved and rubble has been cleared. Magical restoration of the Tower is expected to begin soon.

Frostville

Built by Lord Floom Frost for the newly formed House Frost, the village was utterly and truly destroyed as the Horde swept through the area toward Duirt. Its destruction took less than an hour. Hundreds of lives were lost to allow for civilians to escape. Many heroes died or were maimed to protect those that escaped. House Frost now resides at Eboncroft Manor under the protection of House Demha. Milo Frost has vowed to see the village repaired and restored. Nothing remains but a single stone pool with rubble.

Lusre Island

One of a thousand Republic islands this one was taken over by Mer and Aventi. The Horde swept past the island leaving it untouched as the Horde was unaware of it.

The Old Forest

Protected by Druids and Rangers the Old Forest was overrun with Savage monsters. Working hard the Rangers and Druids are still working to force out those monsters still remaining in hiding.

South Quarter

Aquatic Embassy Recently created for the Mer and Aventi, the Embassy was partially overrun by the Horde but was forced out by a multitude of Mer. Hundreds were killed in the protection of the Embassy. Damage to the Embassy was minimal and was repaired swiftly.

Dune Manor Dune Manor was originally owned by House Dune, but since its destruction several centuries ago, only the manor carries the name. Dune Manor no longer serves as a Manor, but instead it has become a fancy restaurant and inn. The Manor was severally damaged by the Horde and is taking sometime to restore. Though magical restoration is offered by the Republic, Citizen insist on the repairs being done by hand.

Eastern Docks The Eastern Docks are the biggest docks in Duirt and cater mostly to large sea-going vessels. Planters of flowers line the area's roads, many of them having been partially eaten by passing livestock. Not as well protected as the Western Docks, the Eastern Docks sustained massive damage by a Sea beast that left it in ruins. Hundreds of sailors died protecting the docks. To this day not all the dead have been retrieved or identified. The citizens of the city cry out in outrage was the Docks are being repaired magically. Fully one hundred ships were lost with months of cargo. Thousands of gold were lost and never recovered.

Fish Market The Fish Market was utterly destroyed when the Horde swept in off the Harbor. Citizens work hard to restore the Market but get no help from any House or Nation.

Foreign Bazaar Much like the Fish Market this area was unprotected and was destroyed by the sea beast that destroyed the docks. Hundreds of lives were lost when the beast swept past destroying the Bazaar. Citizens work hard alone to try to repair what was destroyed.

High Rises Massive buildings used to store the city's food supplies. This was the first building targeted by the Horde destroying the city's food supplies. Though the structures were rebuilt magically they remain empty to this day.

Red House Brothel and and Opium Den runned by House Xueris, the establishment suffered major damage with hundreds of lives lost trying to protect it. House Xueris remains silent about the lost of product and lives though the building has been repaired, it suffers as business has dropped.

Tanners Island This island one of a thousand owned by the Republic was lucky to have missed the Horde as soon as the Blockade was made; the island shut down and remained silent as the Horde swept past them.

Western Docks In direct opposition to the Eastern Docks, these docks were rebuilt by House Atianna and constructed in stone. As such the Docks remain unscathed. A hundred ships were lost in the Siege and as well as thousands of lives. Protesters remain outside House Atianna begging for help for the rest of the city where the Doge remain silent for help.

Wharf Road The wharf is a key point of industry and the location where most ships, especially the larger ones, are built. The wharf drives many nearby industries such as a saw mill and a street full of carpenters. Hardest hit in the Siege the Wharf was destroyed. Dozens of ships in midst of repairs and a dozen ships ready for launch were lost was well as a hundred sailors whom died trying to protect the Wharf. Today the structures are being rebuilt but as yet no new ships have been made and none repaired.

Western Quarter

Beggars Market A Barter only Market, the Beggar's Market was partially destroyed in the fighting. The very poor work hard, alone to repair the Market receiving very little help from the Church.

Cathedral The most heavily protected non magical building in the city. The building has no less than a hundred Holy Knights protecting it as it was used as a major point for the wounded to be brought for healing and a place to store the dead. The building suffered very little damage which was quickly repaired. The Church was quick to claim the Holy Power of God had protected them, recognizing the deaths of Paladins that died protecting the building.

Chapel of Saint Theris Much smaller than the Cathedral, the Chapel of St. Theris was heavily defended during the siege. The Holy Priests of St. Theris enjoying the chance to destroy so many savage monsters. The Chapel honors all the lives that was lost in it's defense. Very little damage was actually done to the building itself.

Church of Saint Molina Not as large or as grand as the Cathedral; the Church of St. Molina is known for the Patron Saint of Builders. It houses the Builders Guild headquarters. The grand and beautiful building suffered massive damage to it's ancient building. Workers say without magical reconstruction it will take years before the building is restored to it's former glory.

Masonry This section of the city reserved for the storage and use of stone for construction use was left relatively untouched by the Horde. The stone stored here though has since been used to help in reconstruction efforts of the city.

Northgate Market The Northern most gate to the city and it's market was destroyed when the Horde battered down its walls and entered the city. The Gate remains down as crews work day and night to rebuild the Gate and the Wall. Hundreds of lives were lost and it took weeks to identify them all.

Path of Faith The Path of Faith is a road running past the west bank of the river. Every few meters there is a small statue or decoration devoted to the Ecclesia faith and many processions follow this road for that exact reason. Sadly the road was over run with the Horde and though not destroyed many of the statues were destroyed and ruined with corpses and gore everywhere. The Church works hard to fix the The Path of Faith.

Soup House To everyone's amazement the Soup House was left pretty much alone with the attack of the Horde, used primarily to house the very poor during the events of the battle.

Three Saints Healing Hall The building was protected by a hundred priests and holy warriors as a secondary spot for healing the wounded. As such the structure received very little damage.

Westhill Road The Westhill Road is a key road in the West Quarter and is lined by the halls of many different guilds, from the cobblers and smiths guild to the bakers and butchers guilds. It features guilds from all over the city, not just Eccles and is also favored as a place to live nearby amongst well-off craftsmen. The Horde left much of this area untouched as they rushed through to get to the main sections of the city. As such the road sustained very little damage and was repaired quickly by it's occupants.

With the inventory of damage now finally clear, the city nobility is debating the best way to prioritize the different places that are in need of repair.

First so far have been the cities external defenses, reconstruction of the walls and main city gates - this has fortunately been progressing well. The bridges within the city are also being reinforced and repaired.

Cleanup efforts are also concluding, with Ecclesian crusaders reportingly finished with their task of gather the remains of those killed and separate the humans, elves, gnomes, dwarves, halflings and aventi from the orcs, goblins, giants and whatever other monsters.

Those who fell have been identified as much as possible, sometimes using magic, to make sure they can be properly buried, as by their faith, and their graves marked with their names. Meanwhile, the remains of the cities attackers have been burned.

A large pile of rubble meanwhile has formed outside the city walls, consisting mostly of crushed stones, half burned wood, destroyed furniture and other rubble that is no longer of use. It is as of yet unclear what will happen to the junk, though some of the cities poorest residents have been seen rummaging through the rubble to see if anything salvageable can be recovered.

If you want to try your luck digging through the rubble, give me a Perception check below, with a note of how long you spend digging

Speaking of digging, Rani had been going out to what remained of Frostville. There wasn't much but the old pool that had been by the Roadhouse was still there, evben though nothing else was. It was filthy, full of muck and rubbish, but it still had many fond memories - plus she was determined to clean it up and beautify the area as a memorial to where Frostville was. Hopefully her sister would also help.

So, she set to work, dreaming of the time it would be clean and swimmable again.

Milo using the authority as Lord Floom Frost's only Son, he commandeers his Father's Herd and rides back out to Frostville's remains. There he uses his personal wealth to contract builders and supplies to being the cleanup and rebuilding of the Village. (( Milo sinks 4000 gold of his personal funds into the rebuild effort. Using the Herd of 114 humans to help with the effort spending 9 hours a day for 4 days each week supervising and helping. ))

Heartbroken by the sad state of Abalone Beach, the Aventi Witch goes out to the Beach and begins her own clean up effort. She spends much of her time here everyday nearly every waking hour to clean up the mess, using Magic when possible.

Elias can be seen all over town, even in the Western Quarter. She's long since stopped her floor work at the Red House, and is now a courier. Basically, messages and contracts need to be made and sent. There's a LOT of merchants doing under the table deals just to survive, and the lovably little irritant is all over that. The Girl in Blue realized that there was an opportunity for profit, make connections, and eventually look like a hero.

She's being good right now, doing her best to get the money flowing once more. She truly believes that once the money started recirculating, then everything could finally get back to normal. She only charged minimal rates, and she'd explain her belief to her clientele. Usually, they'd just pat her on the head and humor her. But, at least she gets results, no?

And, when she's got nothing to carry, she is more than happy to deal 'misery-go-bye' and 'dreamless sleep' to the down and out, for an affordable price. Because while the importation of product was gone, for now at any rate, there was definitely a demand for anything that could kill the pain, and grief. And the Girl in Blue realized that there was an opportunity for profit, make connections, and look like a hero to them for selling so cheaply.

Melody is also helping to clean up Abalone Beach. She is hoping to have it ready in time for the summer so she can teach those who wish to learn to swim. She also wants to make it a safe place for people to do so.

Leigh managed to find nothing more than some random scraps

(( Which have been added to your sheet, along with some xp :P ))
