Psychics are a special type of Psions who seek to copy the powers of others to manifest their own psionic power.
Where Wilders let their emotions power their psionics, and regular Psions study their own psionic abilities to unlock its secrets, the Psychic seeks to delve deep into the minds of other psionic beings, trying to understand the underlying psyche and emotions that shape their power.
This kind of work requires a deep and personal connection but once established, it allows the psychic to understand how others shape their power into psionic manifestations and copy it. As a result, Psychics can gain access to a much wider array of powers than other classes.
However, as Psychics are channeling their psionic power through channels imitated from others, rather than naturally balanced to their own minds, they are more limited in how many different powers they can juggle at once.
Note: Psychic is a special Discipline for the Psion class that alters it in various ways. It is only available for Gestalt characters and requires Psychic Spirit to use (see below).
Class Features
The Psychic follows the Psion in terms of class features. For completeness, they are repeated here, with changes explicitly marked.
Class Basics
Alignment: Any
Hit Die: d6
Class Skills:
The Psychic's class skills are: Autohypnosis (Wis), Craft (Int), Knowledge (all skills, taken individually) (Int), Profession (Wis), Spellcraft (Int) and Use Magic Device (Cha)
Additionally, they may choose one class skill from the following list: Acrobatics (Dex), Bluff (Cha), Climb (Str), Diplomacy (Cha), Disable Device (Dex), Disguise (Cha), Fly (Dex), Heal (Wis), Intimidate (Cha), Perception (Wis), Sense Motive (Wis), Survival (Wis), Swim (Str)
This is functionally identical to a Generalist Psion - the list of powers is summarized from the discipline lists the Generalist may choose from
Weapons and Armor Proficiency
Psychics are proficient with the club, dagger, heavy crossbow, light crossbow, quarterstaff, and shortspear. They are not proficient with any type of armor or shield. Armor does not, however, interfere with the manifestation of powers.

Power Points / Day
A Psychic's ability to manifest powers is limited by the power points she has available, as well as her powers per day. Her base daily allotment of power points is given on the table below.
In addition, she receives bonus power points per day if she has a high Charisma score (see Table 2-1: Ability Modifiers and Bonus Power Points in Psionics Unleashed). Her race may also provide bonus power points per day, as may certain feats and items.
Added note about the limited power per day, see below. The Psychic gains bonus power points based on Charisma rather than Intelligence.
Discipline
Since Psychic is itself a special case of Discipline, Psychics do not choose a discipline.
This Psion ability does not apply. The powers of the Discipline are integrated into the class.
Powers Known
The Psychic does not start out knowing powers, but rather must learn them from others. For details, see the Psychic Spirit entry below.
This power is entirely overridden by the Psychic Spirit.
Maximum Power Level Known
A Psychic is limited in the complexity of psionic powers she can manifest, as per the class table. To learn or manifest a power, a psychic must have an Charisma score of at least 10 + the power’s level.
Description changed to adjust to the new method of learning powers, but the same level limits continue to apply. The Psychic is now limited by Charisma, not Intelligence.
Bonus Feats
The Psychic gains a bonus feat at 1st level, 5th level, 10th level, 15th level and 20th level. This feat must be a Psionic feat, a Metapsionic Feat or a Psionic Item Creation feat.
Unchanged. Full disclosure: Wendele only gets up to 6th level, so she will only ever gain the first two bonus feats.
Detect Psionics
This ability is incorporated into the Psychic Spirit, see below
Discipline Talents
This ability is incorporated into the Psychic Spirit, see below
Discipline Abilities
At 2nd, 8th, 14th and 20th level, the Psychic gains special abilities.
Unchanged but different actual abilities, see below
Psychic Discipline Abilities
A psychic gains the following powers:
Additional Bonus Feat
At 2nd level, the Psychic gains the Inquisitor feat as a bonus feat. (( +2 bonus to Sense Motive, +10 if Psionic Focus is expended, double bonus (+4 / +20) with more than 10 ranks ))
At 7th level, the Psychic gains the Open Minded feat as a bonus feat. (( 1 additional skill point per HD ))
At 12th level, the Psychic gains the Overchannel feat as a bonus feat. (( Can increase manifester level by 1, 2 (if level 8 or higher) or 3 (if level 15 or higher) in exchange for 1d8, 3d8 or 5d8 damage ))
At 17th level, the Psychic gains the Talented feat as a bonus feat. (( Expend Psionic Focus to overchannel level 1-3 power without taking damage ))
This follows the Bonus Feat ability of the Generalist Psion but instead of granting Expanded Knowledge, Metamagic or Item Creation feats, it grants specific Psionic feats in theme with the class.
Full disclosure: Wendele only gets up to 6th level, so she will only ever gain the Inquisitor feat.
Breach Power Resistance (Su)
At 8th level, TODO
Full disclosure: Wendele only gets up to 6th level, so she will never gain this ability.
Double Manifest (Ex)
At 14th level, TODO
Full disclosure: Wendele only gets up to 6th level, so she will never gain this ability.
Expanded Mind (Ex)
At 20th level, TODO
Full disclosure: Wendele only gets up to 6th level, so she will never gain this ability.
Psychic Spirit
The Psychic Spirit is a part of the Psychics own psyche, created by the Psychic in manifest form similar to a Psicrystal.
By means of the Psychic Spirit, the Psychic is able to manifest powers learned from others. Specifically, the Psychic Spirit helps the Psychic to shape their psyche to emulate that of others and as a result it allows them to learn and manifest psionic powers.
As a result, unlike a regular Psion, who learns a number of powers themselves, expanding their power at each level, the Psychic uses their Psychic Spirit to copy powers of others by exploring and copying their psychic process.
The Psychic Spirit has no physical form, but can be detected using detect psionics or similar powers. Using such methods of detection, it appears as if a small formless entity shoots around the Psychic, seemingly randomly interested in details and then moving on to check the next random item in the area, tracing chaotic and unpredictable patterns as it moves, yet always seeming to have some sort of focus in a particular direction that is difficult to pin down. The spirit never ventures more than a few feet from the Psychic.
Learning Powers
Unlike a regular Psion who knows a set number of powers at each level, the Psychic learns powers from other psionic creatures. They do not gain starting powers and do not gain powers when they level up, but can learn any number of powers.
Learning a new power requires the Psychic to explore the psyche of a creature that has the desired power. They must spend a period of at least 24 hours in close physical presence of the creature, and must communicate with them to explore their psyche.
The creature must be willing to share their personal story and must share a language (or other means of communication) with the Psychic.
After the 24 hour period, the character makes an Autohyponosis check of DC 15 + the power's level. If the check fails, the psion cannot understand the psychic patterns required for the power. She cannot attempt to learn that power again from the same source until she has leveled up, but she may learn it from a different creature after at least one week has passed.
This ability does not bestow upon the character the ability to know what powers a creature possesses, nor does it remove the ability from the creature.
Powers Known
The Psychic can learn an unlimited number of different psionic powers, though the Psychic must learn each on her own (see above).
The Psychic has more freedom in the amount and types of powers they can learn. She can learn psionic powers from the psion/wilder list, as well as the lists for all other psionic disciplines. Additionally, she can learn powers from non-psion/wilder lists such as the psychic warrior list.
This ability cannot be used to learn powers normally available to Psions at a lower level. For example, the user cannot learn Body of Iron at level 6, even if it is a Psychic Warrior 6 power, as it is available on the Psion list at level 8.
Preparing Powers
To manifest powers, the Psychic needs to shape their psychic spirit in such a way as to be able to manifest their psionic power in the right form.
The Psychic may prepare powers each day after 8 hours of sleep (the same rules for interruptions and ability to avoid sleep apply as for wizards and clerics). After resting, they may take one hour to prepare a limited number of powers available for that day.
The Psychic may prepare one power of each power level they can manifest. Additionally, the Psychic gains bonus powers to prepare as if they were bonus spells, using the same table. The bonus is determined by Charisma. For example, a level 7 Psychic with Charisma 20 would be able to prepare 3 level 1 powers, 2 level 2 powers, 2 level 3 powers and 2 level 4 powers.
The Psychic may manifest any prepared power an unlimited number of times (within the limits of their available power points), including augmentations to the power and with or without the application of metapsionic feats.
Talents
The Psychic may learn talents -including the de-facto talent of Detect Psionics- from other classes that have this ability, in particular the 7 other psion disciplines.
The Psychic may prepare a number of Talents equal to her Charisma modifier. As long as she maintains Psionic Focus, she may manifest prepared talents without paying power points, but the power may not be augmented or affected by metapsionic feats.
Many Talents are limited in some way when used as Talents and those limits also apply to the Psychic as well if she prepares them as Talents. Often, the talent is available as a normal power as well. In that case, the Psychic may also prepare such powers as normal using the appropriate level slot and without these limitations.
