Psychics are a special type of Psions who seek to copy the powers of others to manifest their own psionic power.

Where Wilders let their emotions power their psionics, and regular Psions study their own psionic abilities to unlock its secrets, the Psychic seeks to delve deep into the minds of other beings, trying to understand the underlying psyche and emotions that shape their power, and emulating that using a Psychic Spirit.

Gaining sufficient understanding requires a deep and personal connection but once established, it allows the psychic to understand how others shape their power and copy it. As a result, Psychics can gain access to a much wider array of powers than other classes.

However, as Psychics are channeling their psionic power through the Psychic Spirit imitated from others, rather than being naturally balanced to their own psyche, they are more limited in how many different powers they can juggle at once.

Note: Psychic is a special Discipline for the Psion class that alters it in various ways. It is only available for Gestalt characters and requires Psychic Spirit to use.

The Psychic follows the Psion in terms of class features. For completeness, they are repeated here, with changes explicitly marked.

Class Basics

Class Skills:

The Psychic's class skills are: Autohypnosis (Wis), Craft (Int), Knowledge (all skills, taken individually) (Int), Profession (Wis), Spellcraft (Int) and Use Magic Device (Cha)

Additionally, they may choose one class skill from the following list: Acrobatics (Dex), Bluff (Cha), Climb (Str), Diplomacy (Cha), Disable Device (Dex), Disguise (Cha), Fly (Dex), Heal (Wis), Intimidate (Cha), Perception (Wis), Sense Motive (Wis), Survival (Wis), Swim (Str)

This is functionally identical to a Generalist Psion - the list of powers is summarized from the discipline lists the Generalist may choose from.

Weapons and Armor Proficiency

Psychics are proficient with the club, dagger, heavy crossbow, light crossbow, quarterstaff, and shortspear. They are not proficient with any type of armor or shield. Armor does not, however, interfere with the manifestation of powers.

Power Points / Day

A Psychic's ability to manifest powers is limited by the power points she has available, as well as her powers per day. Her base daily allotment of power points is given on the table below.

Unlike the Psion, the Psychic does not receive bonus power points per day for having a high ability score. Even so, her race may provide bonus power points per day, as may certain feats and items.

The Psychic gains no bonus power points.

Discipline

Since Psychic is itself a special case of Discipline, Psychics do not choose a discipline.

This Psion ability does not apply. The powers of the Discipline are integrated into the class.

Powers Known

The Psychic does not start out knowing powers, but rather must learn them from others. For details, see Psychic Spirit

This power is entirely overridden by the Psychic Spirit.

Maximum Power Level Known

A Psychic is limited in the complexity of psionic powers she can manifest, as per the class table. To learn or manifest a power, a psychic must have an Charisma score of at least 10 + the power’s level.

Description changed to adjust to the new method of learning powers, but the same level limits continue to apply. The Psychic is now limited by Charisma, not Intelligence.

Bonus Feats

The Psychic gains a bonus feat at 1st level, 5th level, 10th level, 15th level and 20th level. This feat must be a Psionic feat, a Metapsionic Feat or a Psionic Item Creation feat.

Unchanged. Full disclosure: Wendele only gets up to 6th level, so she will only ever gain the first two bonus feats.

A psychic gains the following powers:

Psychic Spirit Enhancement Feats

The Psychic Spirit functions as a Psicrystal for the purpose of certain feats and abilities. Specifically, it fulfills the requirement of having the Psicrystal Affinity feat for purposes of other feats or abilities. If used in this manner, any effects that these feats would effect on the Psicrystal instead affect the Psychic Spirit, though they otherwise function identically.

Note: Since the Psychic Spirit lacks both sensory organs, a physical form, and the regular Psicrystal abilities, these cannot be improved by feats or abilities.

At 3rd level, the Psychic gains Psicrystal Containment as a bonus feat. (( Allows for Psionic Focus on Psychic Spirit ))

At 8th level and every 5 levels thereafter, the Psychic gains Improved Psicrystal as a bonus feat. (( Gain a +2 or +3 bonus to one skill or stat ))

This modifies the Bonus Feat ability of the Generalist Psion, delaying the effect by one level and granting Psicrystal feat effects.

Full disclosure: Wendele only gets up to 6th level, so she will only ever gain the Psicrystal Containment bonus feat. She could take other Psicrystal enhancing feats, including Improved Psicrystal, later using other sources of feats.

Swap Power (Ex)

At 8th level, the Psychic can swap her prepared powers once per day. To do so, she must give up a prepared powers that she has not yet used since she prepared it at the start of her day, and she may exchange that for a different power she knows of the same level or lower. The swap requires 5 minutes of quiet meditation to complete.

Full disclosure: Wendele only gets up to 6th level, so she will never gain this ability.

Transferance (Su)

At 14th level, the Psychic may access powers from other psionic creatures directly, without learning the power.

The creature must voluntarily give up its action to open her mind to the Psychic. The Psychic then manifests the creatures power using her own power power points, caster level, etc as if she herself had manifested the power. This can be used, for example, to manifest a power at a higher level than the psionic creature is capable of.

Personal Manifestation (Ex)

At 20th level, the Psychic may select three powers she knows as her personal powers. She may always manifest these powers, without having to prepare them. They are available, even if her Psychic Spirit is not accessible.
