Tannaz was sold into slavery by her family when she was 8 years old because her father was convinced that she was a bastard child. This quite probable as she has blue-tinted white hair and silver eyes, somehting normal mortals just do not have. Her last owner was murdered in his own home just after the prohibition of slavery. The law enforcement in Farafa is convinced Tannaz is somehown responsible. However, they can not prove anything as both wives of the deceased man claim that they know Tannaz was in the Harem at the time of the murder and her owner was a known figure on the black market she was declared innocent.

Tannaz joined the Serpents of Igani after travelling to Taserin and seeing Princess Azizah. She thinks joining the Serpents will allow her to grow beyond her current social station, and express her feelings. Were she born in the south (and not sold away) she would probably have taken to wearing grey around the age of 12. So far she has not risen higher than Thania Ha-mazan, but she does have command in the personal Scale of Azizah.
