Igani is the larger of the two southern regions of Suran. Before the formation of Suran, the Igani sultanate was one of smaller sultanates, kingdoms and princedoms surrounding the Delzahn Empire. It was ruled over by Selim al-Najib who resided, and still resides, in Taserin, the then capital of Igani.
Igani was, as many of the southern factions, one of the many Realm tributaries. Mostly, Igani was a Realm tributary in name only.
Demographics
As one of the southern regions Igani conforms to the overall demographic of the south. Because warfare is the traditional occupation of men and the south has extensive war and extended conflicts only 40% of the population is male. Because of the skewed ratio of men to women (with 60% of the population being female) harems and men with multiple partners are common throughout Igani's upper-middle class and nobility.
Igani originally maintained a slave population of about 20% of the total population. With the abolishment of slavery through Igani, these slaves became part of the general population.
