After fully completing their training, Jedi become Knights. They may serve a Jedi Master or they serve the Jedi Council directly. Some choose to retire at this stage. Jedi Knights can take on Padawan learners.

Jedi Knights have completed their training, and have demonstrated their dedication to, and understanding of, the Jedi code. They can take on even the most dangerous missions. They still answer to the Jedi Council, and are outranked by Jedi Masters, but they have a large degree of independence.
