Caelara is, according to the Caelaran faith, the immortal leader of the Ordo Caelara and ruler of the planet Aethra. Referred to as the God-Empress by the followers of the religion, she is worshiped as a deity and is said to grant miracles and blessings to the faithful in their hour of need.

Though still the factions official head of state, Caelara does not actively engage in politics and in fact does not respond to external stimuli. According to the religious tradition she is in a state of meditation, offering guidance and protection to her followers throughout the galaxy by means of the Force.

As she should not be disturbed during such meditations, the Synod of the Ordo Caelara has been managing the mundane affairs of government for the past six centuries in her stead, officially until 'such time as the God-Empress deems it fit to retake direct control'.

Criticism

Being born over seven centuries ago and genetically human, certain critical voices have questioned whether Caelara might not, in fact, be meditating. Some even go so far as to suggest that she should by any reasonable estimation be dead by now and that the lack of response to external stimuli is clear evidence of this.

The Ordo Caelara has dismissed such criticisms, citing that since the God-Empress is known to be immortal, such 'reasonable estimations' are 'completely irrational and defy basic logic'. As Caelara teaches the values of logic, reason and common sense, those who make such claims on Aethra are usually offered mental health services or spiritual guidance as their preference may be.
