A philosophy is an interpretation of Jedi Code and the Virtues. To gain rank within the Jedi Order, a padawan or knight must demonstrate their ability to understand a philosophy through their actions (and their virtue ratings).

Each philosophy has two major virtues and a minor virtue. To advance to the rank of Knight, a character must have one major virtue at least at 5 and the other at least at 4. To advance to the Rank of Master, a character must have one major virtue at least at 8, the other at 6 and the minor virtue at least at 4.
