Over time, Jedi progress in their understanding and training.
They do so in three relevant ways: shifting Virtues, spending training points (on Skills, Force Powers, and Combat Styles), and advancing in rank.
Shifting Virtues
See Virtues for a description of the virtues.
At the end of each mission, a player may shift a single virtue point from one virtue to another if they can justify the shift based on events in the missions and their character's interpretation of those events. The storyteller of the mission is responsible for determining if the justification is sound.
A Jedi character that is a member of the Jedi Order will be expelled if they ever have more than one-third of their virtue points in Dark Virtues. Furthermore, at the moment of promotion to a higher rank, they must have no more than one-fifth of their virtue points in Dark virtues.
Acquiring Training Points
See Training Points for the rules on training points.
At the end of each mission, a Jedi Character normally gains +5 training points. Depending on their apprentice status, they might gain more.
Training points are used to train in new Skills, Force Powers and Combat Styles.
Advancing in Rank
See Jedi Advancement for the rules on advancing in the order.
