Hello people

After kinda having watched to much of the star wars series lately, and because of all the working from home, I am feeling like re-joining FWURG once again.

As far I can tell, there are no new players since FWURG 1.0, so I don't believe introductions are necessary, other than:

Hi, I am Elmer, I played the Teprogrenaian Consensus in the past.

For now, I want to start small, since I don't know how much time I can dedicate to FWURG. (But, as far I can tell, FWURG is still pretty small, so I don't suspect that this will be a problem.)

My general idea what I want to play is something like this:

The jedi very philosophical and pacifistic from a small society with the smallest countable population. The population is low-tech and have little intergalactic interest and interaction. They live very close with nature as they believe this is the way to be close with the force.

My jedi wants to learn more and after her schooling on her planet, she is sent to/discovered by the jedi order were she believes to be able to learn everything there is about the force.

For an economy, if it will come that far (both rules and play - wise,) I thought of something in the following lines:

My first idea was a big homeworld ship, inspired by the Supremacy super star destroyer from Disney's fan-fiction The Last Jedi. A nomadic home traveling from location to location with many facilities indoors and stripping locally what cannot be produced by itself. Then I thought that a nomadic fleet would be more feaseble in terms of play and balance. However, the Star Wars setting is not very nomadic-like. As in, space travel is so advanced, that there is no reason to be nomadic. It is like introducing nomads with cars in the US. I didn't see it really working. I also thought that a moving homeworld would be troublesome rules-wise. Therefore I came to the following idea:

A colonization fleet of Teprogrenaians left their homeworld and ended up on my new jedi homeworld. Basically stripping the indigenous inhabitants of their power as the Teprogrenaians immediately start to colonize and industrialize the planet. I believe this would create an interesting field of internal conflict of the old inhabitants who are being pushed away from their position, and the new inhabitants who can not go since their colonization equipment is one way only. Once in place it cannot be removed again. This would be especially interesting with my jedi from the suppressed party.

Even though I will start with a simple planet, I wanted to sort this out from the beginning for the important reason that this action can easily be seen as an invasion (it is). And therefore, the Union would be forced to intervene and kick-out the invading Teprogrenaians. Therefore the question is also, how can we make this work?

Welcome back, Elmer!! :D

First of all, welcome back!

Second: currently there is no economy in the new fwurg and I have no reason to believe that it will be here any time soon, though I know Brend is doing his best on that.

Third: you can just play the Teprogrenaian Consensus if you want. From what I understood fwurg 1.0 is not really a thing and 2.0 is more a reboot then a sequel/prequel. An alternative might be to play the Teprogrenaians at an earlier point in their history, or something completely different.

Fourth: I don't think the Union would care too much if the world the Teprogrenaians are invading isn't a Union member. That said, depending on the distance from my world this world would be, the Unified People of Thanda (my world, who are totally not space nazis) would be very weary of any such invasion force.

Fifth: if you really want to go the invading colonist route, keep in mind colonisation is an enormous and time consuming process. Where did your people get all the resources to build cities and industrialize everything? If they mined them locally, where did the infrastructure to do that come from? There is a maximum size for you colonization fleet, because at the time they were sent out from the Teprogrenaians there was only so much available to send out. It takes decades to establish yourself on a planet and that is going to be delayed quite a bit if you have already established powers in the area breathing down your neck. Instead you probably want to make friends with them rather quickly. Try to think a little about the scale of what you want to do. It might lead to some very cool ideas. :D

I'm more than willing to help make the arrival of your people into a roleplaying event or help with ideas so drop me a message if you want :D

Welcome back! I'm sure we can get you sorted!

As for the roleplaying idea, my faction will probably mind if another people that takes good care of their planet is invaded and suppressed by another that doesn't. Especially if they are already somewhat familiar with the indigenous peoples.

It either or the two (original) home worlds lays within reasonable reach of the Union, they would attempt to do so with help of the Union, if not then they’d probably make do without.

They’ve ‘taken care’ of an invasive peoples on their home planet during the times of chaos, and they’d do it again. (If mostly because it could prevent history repeating itself on their planet in the future.)

So, my faction (Dealasach Society) will want to help the indigenous people. You can message me if you want to elaborate on your ideas :)

For worlds, I wanted to make a hard separation from old Fwurg and the homeworld of the colonists. No mention to location, time or anything other than: We left our homeworld and found this wonderful planet to make our new home. I even do not want to import old characters, like my senator and trade dude, as they have too many connections with FWURG 1.0. In fact, I am not even sure if I bring in the whole cyborg aspect of the Teprogrenaians.

(Any resemblance to other or old characters are purely coincidental and are because they simply look the same to you and have nothing to do with the fact that I recycle my old images.)

As of scale of such an operation: Star Wars scales are a bit wonky: At one hand you have the humongous scale of an entire planet being a city with layers on layers of city on top of more city, on the other hand, you have a farmers village of like 10 to 20 farmers significant enough to be worthy of pirate raids.

As such, I wanted to go a bit with the 'narrative scale'. The indigineous people live in some small villages and with few significant places. This way, when the Teprogrenaians invade, they don't have to invade the entire planet. They only have to threaten some of the few significant places to make their arrival a problem, story wise.

Then I also do not need to drop billions and billions of people. Just enough to populate a city and some outlying villages should be enough. The rest of the planet can be left alone as if it doesn't exist. A planet is only a template to hold a place or significant location, right?

To adres the time and resources required for such an endeavor: As, by that time, it will be a starting economy, the economy can start small and the growing economy is a direct representation of the ongoing colonization effort: Just as it takes time to build a city and factories and anything, it takes time to grow the economy. The invading force has everything with them and cannibalize their ships to create permanent buildings. This is also why they cannot leave anymore.

Think of it a little like Battlestar Galactica: just one fleet looking for a place to live.

This also allows enough time for interaction with the players. They can sign peace treaties, declare war, start negotiations and everything that comes with: 'Holy shit, our neighbors have been invaded, but we cannot do anything and they cannot do anything... yet."

Well, this is a lot of planning for something that might never come :P

Because after all, I will start with my world mostly as a carrier and culture background for my jedi. I don't believe they will have many ties with the Union and much political interaction in the beginning.

Since I am convinced that we can make this work, I will start fleshing out my world a little, the race and my jedi.
