Mary Mead is the head librarian and proprietor of the Book Nook, with her husband Josh Mead running the bookstore upstairs.

She is somewhat stern in maintaining order, but primarily seems to enjoy helping people find the answers to obscure questions.

Despite rumours, she claims not to be a witch or know any magic, styling herself as a theoretical, not a practical magician.
