Vampires explore the gothic supernatural world of Victorian London. With style.
Set in London in the 1870s, the Victorian Society campaign is an interesting mix of Vampire supernatural storytelling and costume drama, creating a mix between elegance, refinement and horror. The game features a complicated set of social customs and divisions, and even differentiates between people’s social position in the vampiric hierarchy and in the broader London society.
As part of this, the game features a humongous cast of NPCs, almost all of them featuring a Sepia image. They have been divided by their social rank and position, with 17 Lord, 38 Sirs and 62 Ladies (of two different varieties) amongst the nobility, and that’s ignoring various royal, ecclesiastic and foreign titles. The cast is further expanded as players have also created names and images for all the footmen, maids, butlers and stable boys in their employ, adding well over a hundred additional NPCs to the roster for a total of almost 300!
RPGpad features used Keeping track of so many NPCs is no sinecure, but giving each one not just a name but an image helps everyone keep up. The Victorian Society campaign also makes effective use of custom data to add details like ranks, styles and titles to each NPC. Combined with the People Index, this allows you to easily search and filter through the large roster to find the NPC you need.
The large cast also means that the London vampire Society feels like a real village - allowing for an equal amount of continuous gossip and activity to seed as much drama and story as possible.
