**Jasper Woodson** is the New-Jersey born Boatswain of the [[SS Stanton]]. He is a quiet and somewhat irritable man who prefers to spend all his time tinkering with the ship's rigging or doing the non-routine maintenance. So long as he is left alone and his instructions are followed promptly and fully, the ship will likely stay afloat. Ships are his passion, and while he is technically [[in-the-know]], his discretion is assured more by disinterest than by a deep sense of loyalty towards people. He gets along well with [[Old Albert]], for whom he has a grudging respect. He is not very impressed by (foreign) titles or even the chain of command, and considers passengers to be disrupting the efficiency of ship operations.
