Income

These calculations are done under the following assumptions:

  • Lord Falkland will probably have Investments 4, given that he has sat on wealth 4 for quite some time.
  • The WJAC branch in London will probably be a Large Business (3), once I ghoul my agent it will have a rating 5 management. This should yield it an average of 2 successes.
  • The WJAC Orient Branch will probably be a Business (2), with a management rating of 4 (given the agent is not a ghoul). This should yield it a generous average of 2 successes.
  • I further assume no benefit points and an Economic Factor of 1.

This would lead to the following Income:

Base 100 pounds
Investment 4 70 pounds
Business 3 30 pounds
Business 2 16 pounds
Total 216 pounds

Agent

As my Agent, Mr. Johnson, is entitled to a wage of 10 pounds per month.

Falkland House

Currently, Falkland House has an Estate rating of 3.

In the new system it will have the following components:

  • Living Component x2
  • Receiving Component
  • Dining Component
  • Stables Component
  • Security Component

This would cost me 30 pounds per month.

For the components I'll need the following staff:

(8+1 male staff) and (8+1 female staff)

1 Boy 1 Girl
2 footman 4 maids
1 driver, 1 first footman, 2 guards 1 head housemaid
1 valet 1 cook, 1 ladies maid
1 Butler 1 Housekeeper

The wages amount to a total of 77 pounds per month.

Resulting in a total cost per month of 107 for this Estate.

Summary

To summarise my income and expenses would look something like:

Income 216 pounds
Agent -10 pounds
Falkland House -30 pounds
Staff -77 pounds
Free to spend 99 pounds

note: Given that my Income currently sits at 2000 per month this seems a steep drop in spendable income. Roughly a 100 pounds spendable per month also seems rather low if one wants to keep a proper social etiquette and attend a ball or two in while (assuming the prices of clothing and jewelry don't change too much).

It would also mean that with current costs, maintaining a second large estate isn't feasible given the cost for components and additional wages. Adding the Silverton Estate (see below) would currently result in an expected monthly income of -37 pounds.

Silverton Estate

Since this estate is outside of London and is primarily used during the summer, the additional costs for this estate mainly lie in the maintenance for the components and the additional staff needed to manage them.

Since it is an Estate rating 4, the layout is probably something like:

  • Living Component x3 or 4
  • Receiving Component
  • Dining Component
  • Stables Component x2
  • Security Component
  • Garden Component;
  • (probably) Ballroom

This would have a component cost of 55 pounds per month (assuming full pay even when not used).

This would also require me to get at least 10 more more staff, included an underbutler and underhousekeeper to manage the Estate, the additional wage bill is expected to be a further 50 pound per month.

Meaning this estate would cost me an (estimated) additional 105 pounds per month. Which currently I cannot afford based the income calculated above.

Silverton -55 pounds
additional staff -81 pounds
Free to spend -37 pounds
