These are questions that many of us wonder when we learn about our origins in school. Truth be told, I'm not sure "Earth that Was" really existed. And unfortunately due to The Data Purge we will never know for sure. What we DO know is that we settled as a race over 12 sectors of a Elliptical Galaxy. At first we focused on settling and eventually our eyes turned to war against the other sectors.
We know from our history books that the Galactic War spanned a few hundred years, with the help of an Artifact and the Pendragon Knights the Arthurian System won out.
For the next Millenia the Galaxy was structured in a feudal state with each Sector having its own King or Queen, The Arthurian Royalty holding the High seat.
We sought to move forward, to bring enlightenment to the galaxy to ensure the human race continued to thrive.
Our Pendragon Knights were sent out to keep the peace, to act as diplomats, and sentinels. Their job was also to find and recruit other supernatural’s and bring them back to Avalon's moons to train.
Nothing was perfect, and when some of the knights became infected with the Red Plague and turned against their charges the Protectorate rose and systematically forced them out of their system. Fear is something we have never mastered as a race. Fear pushed those humans who did not believe in the round table to turn against us.
And fear is also something that will make you tolerate what you hate, to defeat what will kill you. When the Silence struck, neither the Protectorate or the Knights could fight them off on their own. Making a truce, and bringing hope for the future the two enemies joined forces and struck against the Silent together.
Together we drove the Silent back to their home base of Dumah, the event was televised on Starnet, and the full extent of the Supernaturals power was exposed in an all out battle between those supernaturals controlled by the Red Plague and those trying to protect the Human Race.
Many more planets joined the Protectorate, and eventually they committed an all out assault on New Avalon. During that assault it became apparent that the Blue Dwarf Ron imploded.
We had enough warning to try to evacuate everyone, a task not made easy by the assault. It was like they where hell bent on genocide, at the last minute everyone started to scatter and many of the ships from New Avalon managed to make it into the Stygian gate before the whole sector was destroyed, swallowed into a black hole.
And us?
10 years of being in gate space? Harrowing. Nightmares penetrate even those in the cryo state.
When we emerged, we found we had exited in the Verge: part of the deep space that had not yet been truly explored. And worse yet? We appear to be the only ship that has survived.
The only ship. From the entire Galaxy and we aren't even full.
We are reeling from the loss of our planet, our displacement and wonder...if Earth that Was, was real, is this how we lost it?
