Tauron was once a small trading hub that was settled by human colonizers roughly 2000 years ago. During the Thurizag War, it became the site of a massive intergalactic battle that spanned the whole Hector System known as the Battle of Hector. The result was thousands of ships crashing and falling into the planet, and the planet becoming orbited by a ring of 'starship remains' which still to this day sometimes fall out of orbit and onto the planet's surface.

While it was once hospitable, the war damaged the planet's ecosystem making it an unhealthy place to live for indefinate amounts of time. Most humanoid races require a breath mask or risk falling ill due to a lack of appropriate oxygen. Still, the residents of the planet make do, adapting even if many of them tend to be sickly or of a non-humanoid race.

Since the war, the planet has been overseen by the Terruvian Scrap Guild, who have made it their business to collect the pieces of star ships and either sell the parts or collect them for themselves. These days, the planet is almost entirely ruled by the Guild itself, as the scraps are the only real resource that it holds.

Most of the residents live in bunkers that are set up at high locations to avoid being attacked by one of the native fauna, the Taur-worms. Unfortunately, these locations are now quite treacherous, requiring much maintenance that is never afforded to it. Many of the sites are falling apart, and one has to be careful while scrapping lest they fall to their death due to a slip of the foot.

The Terruvian Hubs, by contrast, are quite well kept - equipped with anti-aircraft weapons to target any falling debris that would land near their main business centers, as well as technologies which keep the Taur-Worms at bay. The quality of life here is not the same as the metropolitan planets most wealthy locations, but is still a luxurious location enough to host even the highest of the Empyreon officials without insult. Such a luxury is something most of the human residents could never dream of enjoying.
