Outside the night was unseasonably chilly, a full moon rising over the city skyline, a clear sky above, as the chill of the evening grew even colder as the hours went by. Traffic noise from the streets below rose up like a muted din to the high-rise conference room in the building. Officially the building belonged to Rook Security Services, but the 9th floor was accessible only to those with a certain clearance, meaning no mortal ever set foot there, unless accompanied by their undead masters.
In the boardroom, tensions rose after Seneschal Panhard had just spoken. The faces on the other participants were a mix of grim determination and in some cases outraged vexation, though others showed signs of support.
First to speak up was the Toreador, Christine. "Seneschal Panhard... you can't be serious about this? If we start imposing our rule across the Hudson, you know how that will be seen, the Anarchs will view it as a declaration of war. I don't know about you, but I feel we've had enough of that over the years..."
There was a murmur of agreement from the other Primogen, punctuated by a belch from "Skinny Bob", the obese Nosferatu, earning him a frown from the other Kindred in the room.
Second to speak up was Leanna Raycraft, the young Tremere Primogen. "I feel more is gained if we were to talk to them, first. If all we do is send the Sheriff in, and with all due respect to our dear Sheriff, he is not the most delicate instrument... but anyways, if we just send him in there, heads will roll. And then the Anarchs will want revenge, and suddenly we'll have two fronts instead of one."
This time one of the "Advisors" spoke up. As usual it was the Giovanni, "Crazy Joe", and not the Ravnos who spoke.
"Listen up here, those Anarchs ain't all that tough, y'know? It's all whaddaya-call-it? Smokes and mirrors. Aside from that Baron of theirs, they ain't got nothin' you need to worry about. Now, Guido is a tough old bastard, no two ways about that, but aside of him, there ain't nothin to fear ovah there"
Zawadi, the Ventrue primogen adjustted the cuffs of her light gray suit, before looking at the mobster, coldly "If they are so harmless, how come the Giovanni haven't taken up residence already? Surely they would be no problem for your clan, would they, Consiglieri Giovanni?"" She smiled, briefly, a smile that never reached her eyes. The words had been polite, but also a reminder to the Independent that this was not his meeting, and he was here by the good graces of the Prince and nothing more. "Crazy Joe" eyed the woman closely about to say something but then paused and shrugged, conceding the point.
The Seneschal listened, sitting at the head of the boardroom table, dressed in a very nice designer dress, adjusted for her measurements. She had patiently let the primogen talk it through, before she replied "Very well, I will heed the councils words... but we will need someone to send to speak to the Anarchs. I do not think one of the council should go, perhaps a younger envoy would be more to their liking, and would set a better tone, too..." She mused, smiling just briefly. "The Prince would like to have your suggestions for envoys in the coming week... this includes advisors Giovanni and Anand" looking at "Crazy Joe" and Prisha. "While we do not recognise your clans officially here, we welcome you to join us in a delegation, if you can find suitable candidates." She looked back out over the table, rising up "I will be looking forward to your suggestions, ladies and gentlemen. I, Seneschal Panhard, now call this meeting concluded, acting for the Prince, Baldassare of clan Ventrue, in his interests and with his approval."
The meeting over, the business concluded, the Primogen council dispersing into the night once more. Now would be the time to gather neonates to send into the hornet's nest of kindred politics. Who would be the lucky ones?
(This IC post is considered as flavor, not common knowledge what was said in detail, but the gist of the meeting is well-known, that neonates, that is PCs, are being sought for a diplomatic mission to the Anarchs. No further details than that have been spilled at this point)
