Having lost a lot of money in recent years, the house is seeking to increase its stores of wealth. Recently this has been accomplished with the arrival of Lady Vanessa Ferency. The family penned all of their hopes on with the finest education and upbringing possible to fill their coffers and it all finally paid off. After spending months of research and study of the economy of both the city and the surrounding country Lady Vanessa came up with an incredible solution for her family's situation. Putting together a renovation program for the Grand Square that would benefit both the Grand Square and her familys position and the city in one fell swoop was enough to solve all of her family problems politically and financially. Once she met with the head of her House and explained her plans and received permission from Lord Tybarius she met with Dwarven Architects and transformed the Grand Square into the most beautiful oasis the city has ever seen. Its her vision of what House Ferency will always stand for in in the past and in the future. She has made sure her family will never again have a lack of wealth or political power in Duirt

The head of the house, Tybarius Ferency is said to be a skilled wizard with strong will, and quite gregarious.

History

Holding a Viscountcy to maintain their lands, the Ferencys were once one of the largest and wealthiest families in then Vorus. However, within the last century they have experienced a tremendous backslide in their economy due to a series of unexplained mishaps and tragedies that have occurred since the announcement of their plan to abolish slavery within their scope of rule, urging the other main families to do the same as they began to free their slaves and in turn pay their workers at a higher, livable wage, which at the time, they could very much afford. The accidents began shortly after they reached a majority of paid freemen versus an enslaved populace, where a series of their precious gem mines had collapsed, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of workers. Various reports imparted the knowledge that the collapses were triggered from deep inside the mines, though the investigators turned up empty handed in both leads and evidence. A month thereafter before the Viscountcy had time to recover, relatively peaceful orc tribes began raiding their towns and villages and laid waste to much of the farmlands. Continuing the trail, fires began to terrorize their forests, the invaluable darkwood rendered useless. Mysterious deaths swept throughout Zandara and other courts in Vorus, leaving their once coveted spots in the council mysteriously empty.

It is widely believed within the Viscountcy that the series of strange and economically crushing events were not accidents or poor luck, but a the acts of sabotage from families within Voran Lands with a believe that others had felt threatened economically by the battle House Ferency waged against slavery, though no fingers have been pointed on who the culprits may have been. Either the Ferencies know and realize that the imparting of such knowledge would to a war they very clearly cannot afford, or they still ponder on who could have been involved in the great house’s near-demise.

However, subjects under the Viscountcy they rule are still known to be treated fairly. It’s typical for the rulers to know their subjects by name and to spend time to learn of their needs. The family has never exactly seen eye to eye with their peers in the treatment of the common populace, as they tend to value the thoughts a commoner more than they ought to, caring a great deal for their people’s comforts and needs, their belief that in fair treatment and a satisfied populace ensures their lands work smoothly.

These hard times have brought onto them a coldness in their hearts. Though it is not known precisely how the family continues on, they have very much managed for the past century, and done a touch better within the last decade, though that does not mean they are on the rise. Through the years, the direct family’s number has dwindled (Who would wed their daughter into a poor house?), leading more cousins to be seen within the courts of the land, acting upon the family’s behalf.
