Differences on Abalone Beach
Once set asida site of tragedy, the beach that had been previously filled with the bodies of victims and perpetrators from the siege, the waters and airs once tainted with the smell and sight of the corpses, was now a place of beauty and splendor once again. Crisp white sands and cool waters mark a gemstone amidst the busy and tumultuous city. Abalone beach is open to anyone from common man to nobility, and is a romantic and beautiful place once more.
After months of sitting in disarray, tended to by a lone Ecclesian priest, adventurers and nobility coordinated the efforts of workers from the city and began the process of cleaning the broken remains of ships away from the once pristine shoreline, and identifying the remains of the numerous corpses that had sat there for a spot of beauty and romance, the stunningfar too long. A ritual was even performed to cleanse the site of lingering malicious spirits, and to consecrate the area from further influence of those spirits.
Now, Abalone beach now laysis once again the diamond in ruin. Though true you cana rough it had been known to be. A retaining wall stretches across the back of the beach, out of the way of the people who would swim there or relax in the sands, but built to prevent floodwaters from reaching the city proper. At the center of the wall, a large monument stands, the limestone base smoothed and polished compared to the rest of the wall, and the structure built out of salvaged materials from the shipwrecks that had washed ashore. Upon it, a plaque has the names of the people whos bodies had washed ashore on it, a testament to their memory of defending the city against the horde.
Inscribed above the names is a small message:
//"Many did not ruin sand, the beachknow each other, but together they stood all the same. In memoriam of these fallen brothers and sisters: may we never take their sacrifice for granted, nor forget them again."//
Just downriver a bit, is a 30ft deep sinkhole, which used to be full of detritus washed in any case unusable. Small and Large sections of wrecks have washed upon the beach making the once beautiful land; ugly. Corpses long washed up on the beach were ignored as city officials claimedbut has since been cleaned up, although it is possible a few more 'important' sections of the city need to be fixed first. The Corpses were never moved as as such slowly decompose on the sand, producing all manner of winged sea birdsobjects are still buried in the silt. It looks like part of the riverbed here has been planted in neat rows of seaweed and it is widely speculated that feed on the corpses and leave their droppings.it is an aventi playground.
