The Malifica Volans were a group of Voran mages during the War Period over four centuries ago. Members of the group were able to fly and rain down fire from above. Though operating relatively independently, at one point at least they answered to Ermis Tenderfoot. In Eccles, they were known as war criminals for their frequent attacks on farmers and other civilian targets.

Landing on Urt

The Malifica Volans earned a reputation for their power in the landing at what would become known as Bloodport, flying over the Ecclesian port and raining down fire on the people below.

During the later parts of the war, the Malifica Volans were known for going out on raids in the countryside, burning undefended farms and villages as well as enemy troops from the sky.

After the war, the Malifica Volans disbanded as most members returned to the mainland, not finding themselves welcome on Urt. Their legacy is often cited as a primary reason for the collective Ecclesian fear of “witches”.
