Military Positions
There are various jobs in the city of Duirt in Law Enforcement or the Military which your character can be a part of. Military Positions are paid as Positions.
Your rank and title do not determine your position, but may determine your eligability for Advancement (see positions), and of course affect your standing within your organization. If you are a regular foot soldier or guardsmen, see Common Jobs instead. All guards, soldiers and officers, regardless of rank must purchase their own equipment and uniform.
Military positions are always linked to a specific organization. To hold a military position, you must be in good standing with the faction that hosts the organization and an oath of loyalty is required. The following organizations offer military positions:
- Police and Security Forces
- Port Authority (Silver Rain Republic police)
- Church Guard (Ecclesian police and security force)
- Voran Watch (Voran police)
- City Guard (Central Quarter security and police)
- Armies
- Army of Eccles (( ships fall under the army ))
- Army of Vorus (( ships fall under the army ))
- Navy of Silver Rain Republic (( land forces fall under the navy ))
- House Guard or Navy of any noble house (military)

Officers
Characters with aspirations and a bit of experience under the belt may become officers with the guard or the armed forces. Pay depends on rank, though ranks may have some requirements as to ability.
The ranks go by different names in the different organizations, as listed in the table below. Each rank has an associated pay and has certain requirements that a character must meet before they can gain the rank. Specific organizations may have additional requirements, as listed on their pages.

Special Limitations
There are some special limitations related to specific organizations or groups of organizations:
- Noble houses never hire members of other noble houses and do not accept them in their house guard.
- Noble houses thus only allow those who are either born or married into the family into certain ranks.
- The Voran armed forces and Voran Watch only hire Vorans.
- The Eccles armed forces and Church Guard only hire Ecclesians of the Ecclesian faith. Additionally they do not hire women, who may instead join the Cult of Saint Theris.
- The Silver Rain Republic armed forces and Port Authority only hire Silverites.
- Reivers do not take nobility into account, so there is no minimum rank for nobles nor a maximum rank for commoners
- The City Guard accepts anyone who lives in the city and is not a member of a faction. As such, nobles cannot join the city guard
