Comparing to a removed version
The Eccles DM is responsible for Ecclesia, both as a religion and as a church, and for providing adventuring opportunities for do-gooders and paladins. **Adventure Frequency**: once every 14 days. **Skills**: Good understanding of the Ecclesian religion and religious practices, good understanding of what should and should not happen in terms of the supernatural ==== Bookkeeping ==== You are responsible for all bookkeeping and paperwork related to the following: * Ecclesian Religious Locations: * [[setting/Cathedral]] * [[setting/Church of Saint Molina]] * [[setting/Chapel of Saint Theris]] * [[setting/Three Saints Healing Hall]] * [[setting/Cardinal]] Ecclesian Religious Officials * [[setting/Church of Saint Molina]] * [[setting/Chapel of Saint Theris]] * Other churches * [[setting/Cardinal]] ardinal Stephanus]] * Various Bishops * General Ecclesian Religion pages: * [[setting/Ecclesia]] * [[setting/Church of Eccles]] ==== Religious Registry ==== You should keep track of all PCs who serve the Church of Eccles. This automatically should include all Inquisitors, Paladins and all Clerics of Ecclesia as well as any other Divine casters who get their spells from Ecclesia. It should also include any PC who serves the church independent of their class. This means priests, monks, nuns, holy warriors, etc. Members of the church automatically get living quarters assigned at an appropriate monastery, church complex, etc. This gives them 1 Lifestyle Point as if they had a Small House. Additionally, membership is required for PCs who want to gain positions within the church. For this, check with the Nobility DM, as positions are only available to nobles, but they could include church positions like Deacon, Church Almoner, etc. Members of the Church may earn Worship points, and you track them for each member. Finally, members may join different Cults, such as the Cult of Saint Molina or the Cult of Saint Theris. You should track this as well. Link: [[Servants of the Church Roster]] ==== Morality Tracking ==== The Church of Eccles has certain expectations in terms of the morality of its members. This is also inherent to many of the classes such as Paladin or Cleric associated with the church. If a PC who is a servant of the church commits strongly deviant acts (converting to a different religion, murder, heresy, etc) or otherwise behaves in a manner that is completely incompatible with the teachings of the church, you may approach them ICly to reprimand them. If the violation continues or is especially egregious, you should excommunicate them. This means they lose access to any divine powers granted by Ecclesia, and they are cast out of the church. Since this is a very serious matter, please confer with the team before taking this route, but tracking and dealing this is your responsibility. ==== Church Adventures ==== Once a month, you should run a Church adventure, in which the Church gives out a mission to the faithful. While open to all, these missions are intended for the followers of the church. Missions should be focused around doing good and serving the church and may include the retrieval of holy relics, defeating of heretics, helping the poor, etc. If any of the PCs involved is a Servant of the Church, they earn 2 Worship Points. ==== Church Advancement ==== Once a PC has gathered 10 or more worship points, they can advance in the church. They now qualify for positions in the church, even if they are not normally qualified (for example if they are not a noble). However, in order to advance further and grow to an advanced position, they need to become members of the nobility as normal. This is an exception to the normal rules for Positions. ==== Church Services ==== You are responsible for managing religious ceremonies for the Church of Eccles. Four times a year at designated holidays, you should run a scene in which the church performs a service. Servants of the Church should be able to participate, letting them perhaps say a blessing or the likes. Players who want to get married or who have had children may come to you to perform baptisms or to preside over their marriage. You run scenes to make this happen, involving one or more of the priests giving their blessing. You may also be asked to baptize PCs who have converted to Ecclesia.
