This page describes the intended speed at which characters should advance
Experience is granted for participating in adventures, roleplaying and completing quests. As such, players that spend more time roleplaying and adventuring will advance faster than those who spend less time.
In the table below, we list the expected time that actively played characters should advance. The exact definition of active is to be determined, though we expect it should involve at least somewhat regular roleplay and at least one adventure per week. Characters that are played less regularly than that will advance less quickly. The listed rate should be how fast the main characters in the setting advance.
Range | Level | Start xp (+to next level) | Intended time to next level |
---|---|---|---|
Low | 6 | 23.000 (+12.000) | 1.5 months (6 weeks) |
Low | 7 | 35.000 (+16.000) | 1.5 months (6 weeks) |

Mid | 9 | 75.000 (+30.000) | 2 months (9 weeks) |
Mid | 10 | 105.000 (+50.000) | 2 months (9 weeks) |
Mid | 11 | 155.000 (+65.000) | 2 months (9 weeks) |
High | 12 | 220.000 (+95.000) | 3 months (13 weeks) |
High | 13 | 315.000 (+130.000) | 3 months (13 weeks) |
High | 14 | 445.000 (+190.000) | 3 months (13 weeks) |
Beyond | 15+ | 635.000+ | Special, see Beyond High Level |
Every three months, the DM team will review if the intended speed is being met. If it is not, we will increase experience rewards. Likewise, if the rate is exceeded, we will decrease experience rewards. Such changes will be towards the future only and will not grant additional experience retroactively (and we also won’t take away if people advanced too quickly)
Special note: in the past, we have had issues with players gaming the experience system to get a leg up over other players. If you are reading this document, you most likely were not one of them. To cover our bases for the future, however, if specific characters are advancing at a higher speed then their peers, especially if going above the intended speeds listed, the DM team retains the right to review these and deal with the situation as we deem appropriate.
