Before the rumors get too wide spread, Letters are delivered to individuals in the Kraken Estate, the Lord and Lady of the Frost Estate, and the Captain Sulan of the Guards in the Central Quarter
To the Kraken Estates Lord Baele Kraken, Lady Byrony Kraken, Lady Anastasia Kraken, and Lady Vanessa Kraken:
My Lord and Ladies,
Firstly, please forgive my addressing this letter to you directly. I am certain such measures are uncommon at best, but as I have spoken with you all directly and heard you discussing the matters this letter involves in the Tavern, I felt it best to come to you with these matters and allow you to determine what the best course of response was for your family.
You may have heard rumors around the city regarding the events that have transpired in recent weeks revolving around the accusations against your House of involvement in attempts on Judge Heggir's life, as well as an attack in the Golden Lion Inn, that myself and others have apprehended criminals related to these events. It is indeed, true, that I began an investigation into these matters personally, and have worked to determine the truth of them.
I would like to invite any of you who would request more details than these rumors provide to find me at my place of work, the Golden Lion, or leave message for me there, if it please you. The evidence and testimony my companions and I have acquired exonerates the Kraken Family from responsibility around the allegations as anything other than a scapegoat for these atrocities.
If your family would prefer, I am willing to submit myself to any measures of truth detection you would like during questioning regarding my involvement in the investigation that I personally undertook to get to the bottom of these matters. I will discuss them with you or any representative of your house you should choose, in whatever private or public venue you deem best suited for such conversations.
Two prisoners are currently in the custody of House Frost from these investigations, both of whom were accomplices in the sullying of your House name. Unfortunately, both were also therefore involved in the kidnapping of Judge Heggir, and in atrocities against innocent people on the Frost Lands. I hope that your houses and the Judge's offices can determine the best way for all parties to be represented in the sentencing of these criminals.
I also would inform you of a third criminal who escaped our efforts. I have enclosed for your reference a drawing (approximate) of this individual, James, and can tell you only that he left from a half mile outside Frostville's reconstruction to head for Bloodport a short time ago, meaning he should still be in transit to his destination. Unfortunately, his trail was already cold by the time we found he had slipped away, but it is possible that he is on horseback for this journey.
I hope that through my efforts and testimony I can help your family achieve some closure in this matter, and thank all of you for the graciousness of your time in addressing this correspondence.
Sincerely,
Laleh Elaheh
To Lord and Lady Frost:
Lord Floom and Lady Katrina,
I wish that my first correspondence with you directly was under better circumstances but, sadly, needs must that not be so. As you are aware over the last weeks, myself, Laleh Elaheh, and companions Elo Amos and Ai'Thorn Hura discovered atrocities committed on your Lands, and I desire to reveal to you the full extent of the circumstances that have transpired to lead to the prisoners you now have in your captivity.
If it would please you, I would be willing to meet with you to discuss such matters personally. You can reach out to me at my place of work, the Golden Lion Tavern and Inn, or through your children Lady Rani, or Sir Milo, both of whom I have had the pleasure of standing alongside in defense of the city and its families - including during these endeavors in the case of Lady Rani.
If you prefer a full written account, I will be submitting such to the Guards of the Central Quarter to close this matter out with them. Judge Heggir's Kidnapping, The Attack in the Golden Lion Inn, and the slights against House Kraken are all directly linked to these two captives and their accomplices, and so will surely mean that the decision of who ultimately gets representation in the final judgement of these two criminals, Olive and Fred, must be discussed amongst those who have suffered from their actions, but I leave those decisions to you and their representatives.
Please note that one culprit in these crimes did escape. I have included a drawing (approximate) of this individual, known as James, and know they were travelling from half a mile outside Frostville, towards Bloodport, and had left only a short while ago so are likely still in transit. We are unfortunately unaware if they are mounted or not, as their tracks had been faded by the time we reached their origination point.
I hope that I can help close this matter for you and your family in whatever way you feel best, and submit myself to your will for any desire you have in assuring truths from my lips or hands when explaining any details you find lacking throughout our communications. Thank you for the generosity you have shown in addressing my humble correspondence.
Sincerely,
Laleh Elaheh
To Captain Sulan in the Central Quarter Guards
Captain Sulan,
As you are the guardswoman I know was most closely associated with these incidents, I feel it appropriate to inform you on the details revolving around my involvement in an Investigation to the events that transpired around Judge Heggir's kidnapping, an attack that we suffered in the Golden Lion Travern, House Kraken's supposed involvement, and the criminals that myself and my friends have apprehended and turned over to the custody of House Frost.
At your convenience, please let me know the best time during which I could attend you at the Guardhouse or other place of your choosing, and submit myself to your questioning or the questioning of the investigator of your choosing. I am fully willing to submit to any methods of truth assurance you deem appropriate, but to pre-emptively address the largest concerns:
The House Kraken was not directly responsible in any of the incidents. They were a convenient scapegoat for the criminals who felt slighted by Judge Heggir himself due to events in their past. The ship that the Judge was taken to was a ship of House Kraken, but the Captain of the ship was not aware of the nature of the cargo they were asked to transport to Bloodport, and the woman in the Tavern that was reported to be sporting a Kraken signet was not at all a member of their house or associated with them in any way.
The Criminals we apprehended - a Miss Olive and Mister Fred - are in the custody of House Frost. I leave the political discussion of who should act upon their punishment to you, the Lord and Lady of House Frost whos lands were attacked and citizens were mutilated, and the Leaders of House Kraken who obviously have received public blame for these incidents.
One culprit in these crimes did escape. I have included a drawing (approximate) of this individual, known as "James" and know they were travelling from half a mile outside Frostville, towards Bloodport, and had left only a short while ago so are likely still in transit. We are unfortunately unaware if they are mounted or not, as their tracks had been faded by the time we reached their origination point.
These summations are of the critical points. As I mentioned, I submit myself to your will in terms of how, where, and when best satisfies your needs for further details and reporting on the specifics involved in these situations and my investigation in to them. I hope my efforts can bring some closure to this open case in your jurisdiction, and thank you for generously taking the time to address my correspondence.
Sincerely,
Laleh Elaheh
(( To facilitate this, Laleh has the image of James that they have from the adventure copied three times, one copy of it to be included with each letter correspondence she sends out. She will pay a professional for this an appropriate amount of gold for each drawing. ))
