Refugees at the West Gate

No tags

A large caravan of many hundreds of refugees have arrived at the west gate, seeking sanctuary. Large groups like this aren't allowed to enter into the city en-mass for safety reasons, though the church is working on getting everyone settled. Food and tents have been provided as places are found for refugees to stay.

So far, that includes housing them in several of the cities churches, including the Three Saints Healing Hall, the Cathedral and the Cardinals private residence, with priority being given to the women and children among the refugees.

The refugee camp is expected to be there for about a week before everyone has been housed - in the meanwhile, the Church Guard is patrolling the camp and extra watches have been sent out.

The Cardinal has additionally stated during Sundays sermon that it is every Ecclesians duty to be charitable to those in need and has asked that the citizens of Duirt treat the refugees with kindness and generosity.

Jaeden rides his own patrols thru the roads within the encampment as well as around to ensure not just that criminal activity would be hindered. But he also handed out food, bedding, essentials to those who were there. He would also if groups needed to go anywhere, escort them so they would be safe and get to and from anywhere they were needed.

Richter has been seen moving through the crowds, blessing, healing, and consoling the refugees outside the gates of Duirt. The whole time he's affirming that he will not leave them in need. He has not slept in the city walls, nor has he gone in for more than reports and to buy some supplies for the refugees. He's been staying with them in a demonstration of suffering with those he claims to protect.

Most of the refugees have been housed inside the city, some have traveled on to relatives elsewhere and a few remain outside the city by choice, able to retreat within the walls if trouble arrises. With that, the refugee camp outside the city has mostly vanished, though fleeing farmers do continue to trickle in.

The aid from heroes like Jaeden and Richter is much appreciated and their charitable work has been noticed by the church.

XP awarded as well as a Worship Point, giving additional reputation with the church!

Melody has also been helping as much as she can between her time at the Library, researching the Prophecy, studies at the Tower, getting personal tutoring from her host, looking for a job, either as a librarian or as an aquatic dancer, sleeping (hopefully not in class) or swimming.

She also tries too find out more information from the refugees on what they are fleeing from.
