There has been rumor of a bear of unnatural size patrolling the boarder of the old forest on the closest side facing Duirt. Many people claim it is a Dire Bear, but others say it's not like any bear they've ever seen before, even dire, as this bear has a large mane like a lion around its crown and chest.
Some rangers and druids in the city tell the citizens not to worry about the bear, he is there for the protection of the city, and keeps the unnatural monsters at bay. Others explain that he's one of the long term residents of the area, a druid that keeps the woods safe. And yet some claim him to be a werebear who has entered the area, looking to start a new tribe.
Rangers
Most know Samson and what his Bear Shaman forms look like, and are wise to the fact that he protects young nature adventurers from venturing too deep or getting involved in things above their station. Rangers know that Samson does not interfere with hunting in the area, and has a good relationship with the local rangers and worked hard to build up a trust with them. Samson has also spent a lot of time in the Hunter's Refuge in the past, though lately has not needed the services of the lodge.
Druids
Samson for the past Decade or so, has been one of the high druid's guardians. Charged with warding over the young druids and keeping the blighters away from them. The past year, Samson has been petitioning to be recognized as the official warden of the area, particularly the Old Forest and area around Duirt. With the recent change in heiarchy lately, Samson has stayed, still petitioning to the new wardens to be one of them. Samson is known to be a strong follower of the Fauna path of Druidism, with a light touch into the Flora path. He has of yet not shown any affiliation to the Primal Elementals or the Draconic heritage. His camp is also always open for druids to rest, refresh, and shelter.
