Differences on Pre-campaign discussion points
Comparing to a removed version
Open questions to discuss:
**Spoilers:**
==== Spoilers ====
//How to handle setting spoilers, reveals, and wiki updates?//
For example, the [[rules/Aran]] race page is currently featuring a lot of ((redacted)) fields, because the full page contains spoilers. This question is about how we as players of the campaign want to handle such spoilers.
We should find the right balance between allowing unspoilered exploration, and not producing too much additional work on tracking spoilers. For example, the GM is not looking forward to updating all class pages every time some new piece information is discovered by the PCs...
Especially since I want to make it possible and easy for players to propose their own feats, spells, classes, and magic items! Which might require some setting spoilers to understand why the GM says no, and how to adjust the proposal to match the setting.
**Character Advancement:**
==== Character Advancement ====
//How fast do we want characters to advance?//
Do we want to care about experience? Given the crack-smoking-monkeys table, this might not really help is in a significant manner (except allowing players that miss out on a few sessions to catch up eventually.)
Note that we have roughly three tracks of advancement: leveling up in the traditional way through gaining class levels, improving your gear and equipment, and (eventually) mythic path progression. We can stagger these different tracks—for example, improving gear and equipment can be done out of sync with leveling up, and mythic path progression can also be done in a level-independent manner.
Based what we decide here, the GM will need to update some tables (currently 'starting at level 5 and every 2 thereafter', might need to become starting at 'level 3 and every 2 thereafter' if we go for slow advancement, just to make sure that we get to 'the full thing')
==== Skill adjustments ====
//What is your impression of the adjusted [[rules/knowledge]] and [[rules/linguistics]] skills?//
The idea is to make the knowledge skills and linguistics a little more relevant, while at the same time making it more useful for multiple characters to take these skills without making all skill ranks invested by other characters useless.
==== Minor Points ====
---- Spell components ----
I (the GM) have determined that Material and Focus components effectively boil down to "do you have your spell component pouch with you". The answer to which is nearly always "yes", except in special situations. To highlight the difference in magic usage, I have decided to drop (neglible-cost) Material and Focus (and Divine Focus, for reasons) components from spells.
Material and Focus components spells are unavailable in the situation that you are polymorphed (unless you have the eschew materials, in which case you're fine).
However, this leaves only Verbal and Somatic components (which, to be honest, was effectively what was present in the old system as well due to spell component pouches), so I'm now looking for one or two new component types to pick up the slack and give casting in this setting an even more distinct feel. Ideas are welcome!
