The Core's normal "Common" language does not exist, nor do most racial languages. Several language families, such as "Elven" and "Human" are in actuality culture-based languages that incidentally overlap with species majorities.

The following languages are known to exist. Note that many of these "languages" are actually language families.

Material languages (on Ilfreann)

  • Elven: Spoken in the Varna region of Clairmont, as well as in Tynntagnial, and parts of the Theocracy
  • Human: Spoken in the Montfort region of Clairmont, as will as in large parts of Demos and The Theocracy
  • Undercommon: The lingua france of underground communities, spoken in the mountain ranges separating Demos and Clairmont from The Theocracy, as well as by the Drow near Heisei
  • Genko: Spoken in the Heisei empire, the kingdom of Zhao, and the surrounding regions
  • ... There are several more culture groups that share a language family among them

Multiplanar languages

  • Draconic: Lingua franca of arcane spellcasters, especially good in expressing abstractions and intricate interlocking patterns
  • Druidic: Secret language of the druids. Not only is if forbidden to teach this language to non-druids, this is mystically enforced.
  • Sylvan: A family of languages used by the Fey, as well as those aligning themselves with such entities

Outer languages

  • Celestial: Spoken by Angels and other good outsiders, as well as those aligning themselves with such entities
  • Abyssal: Spoken by Demons, and many other chaotic evil outsiders, as well as those aligning themselves with such entities. This language lends itself well to expressing nuances of anger, danger and strength, and can only express most positive emotions couched in terms of disdain.
  • Infernal: Spoken by Devils, and many other lawful evil outsiders, as well as those aligning themselves with such entities. This language lends itself well to expressing complex legal constructions, as well as very specific logical with exacting detail.

Elemental (or Inner) languages

  • Terran: Elemental plane of Earth based language, mostly spoken by earth-based creatures
  • Aquan: Elemental plane of Water based language, mostly spoken by water-based creatures
  • Ignan: Elemental plane of Fire based language, mostly spoken by fire-based creatures
  • Auran: Elemental plane of Air based language, mostly spoken by air-based creatures

Specialized languages

Specialized languages can only be taken as starting language with approval.

  • Drow Sign Language: Originally a set of several separate sign languages used by different militaries, eventually amalgamated into a single "universal" (on the plane Ilfreann) sign language attributed to the Drow military

Exotic languages

Exotic languages cannot be taken as starting language

  • Eldar: An ancient language that appears to be the common root of Elven, Undercommon, and possibly Genko
  • Shadow Eldar: An ancient language with a script that uses relief-based glyphs instead of color-based glyphs, related to Eldar but different enough to produce texts that cannot be understood by those proficient in Eldar
  • Hexonal: ("Zeshoeks") An ancient script related to the ancient red and white ruins found on multiple planes, the script is based on triangular base glyphs that can be arranged in geometric patterns
