Appearance

Lorrick Vindle is a small, wiry gnome with an almost frantic energy that seems to spill over into every aspect of his appearance. His sharp, angular features are often smudged with soot, frost, or strange chemical stains, giving him a perpetually disheveled look. His eyes are large and a vibrant teal, magnified by the thick lenses of his multi-layered goggles, which are constantly perched on his forehead or dangling around his neck.

His short, spiky hair is a bright, unnatural shade of white—a side effect of one of his alchemical experiments gone wrong. Lorrick’s beard is more of a scruffy tuft, uneven and occasionally singed. He wears a patchwork coat made of reinforced leather, lined with numerous pockets overflowing with flasks, vials, and strange tools. Strapped to his belt is an assortment of pouches filled with alchemical reagents, and his gloves are always stained with something caustic or glowing.

Despite his unkempt appearance, Lorrick carries himself with a manic focus, always jotting notes into his weathered journal or tinkering with some bizarre contraption. His boots, caked in tundra dirt, are reinforced with froststeel soles to protect against the freezing ground.

Personality

Lorrick is easily distracted by new discoveries, often rushing headfirst into experiments without considering the risks. This reckless behavior has led to numerous accidents, earning him both admiration for his ingenuity and exasperation from his colleagues.

Despite his quirks, Lorrick is kind-hearted and deeply values the efforts of those who protect Frostwatch. He’s quick to provide his alchemical expertise to anyone in need, though his solutions are sometimes... unconventional. While he thrives in a controlled lab environment, he’s far less comfortable in combat or social situations, often relying on others to keep him safe when danger looms.

History

Born in a gnomish enclave far from Frosthaven, Lorrick showed an early aptitude for alchemy and chemistry. His insatiable curiosity drove him to travel across the tundra, seeking rare ingredients and studying the unique effects of frostglass and Abyssal energy on living organisms. His groundbreaking work on frostglass compounds caught the attention of the Frostspire Academy, which recruited him as a researcher.

Lorrick’s obsession with Abyssal anomalies eventually led him to Frostwatch Outpost, where he now studies the strange and dangerous phenomena near the Howling Abyss. While his research has yielded important insights into Abyssal corruption and its effects on the tundra, his experiments have also caused several near-disasters, including an accidental explosion that temporarily froze an entire section of the outpost.
