Emblem

The Frostwardens’ emblem is a shield of ice-blue metal adorned with a stylized snowflake encircled by a silver ring. The snowflake symbolizes the tundra’s fragility and resilience, while the silver ring represents unity and the unbroken duty of the Frostwardens. Beneath the snowflake is an etched spear and sword crossed in an “X,” signifying both defense and readiness for battle.

Overview

The Frostwardens are an elite order dedicated to preserving the balance and survival of the tundra and its inhabitants. They act as defenders of Frosthaven and its allies, warding off threats ranging from frost trolls and raiders to Abyssal incursions. Though most members are warriors and rangers, the Frostwardens also include scholars and mages who study the tundra’s mysteries to ensure its protection.

They are headquartered in Icewatch Keep, where their leaders train new recruits and coordinate patrols across the region. Known for their discipline and unyielding resolve, the Frostwardens are both feared and respected by those who live in the frozen expanse.

History

The Frostwardens were founded after the Frostspire Shattering, a catastrophic event that left much of the tundra vulnerable to Abyssal corruption and marauding creatures. Seeing the need for a dedicated force to defend the region, Frosthaven’s leaders commissioned the order and tasked them with safeguarding the tundra’s balance.

Initially formed from a mix of Frosthaven soldiers, rangers, and volunteer warriors, the Frostwardens quickly gained a reputation for their bravery and efficiency. They played a pivotal role in driving back Abyssal forces during the Howling Winter, solidifying their position as the tundra’s stalwart defenders.

Over the centuries, the Frostwardens have expanded their focus, not only protecting settlements but also exploring and monitoring key landmarks such as the Glacial Labyrinth, Shard Sea, and Howling Abyss.

Notable Achievements

The Abyssal Stand: Held the line at Icewatch Keep against an overwhelming Abyssal force, allowing Frosthaven’s people to evacuate safely.

The Glacial Recovery: Secured and restored an ancient ruin near Glacier’s Edge, uncovering artifacts that bolstered the region’s magical defenses.

The Pact of Fire and Ice: Negotiated an alliance with the Emberforge Clans, creating a coalition that remains vital to the tundra’s survival.

Structure

High Warden: The leader of the Frostwardens, responsible for strategy, diplomacy, and ensuring the order’s continued legacy.

Wardens: Veteran members who lead squads, train recruits, and undertake dangerous missions.

Frostbound: The main rank of the order, comprising skilled fighters, trackers, and mages.

Initiates: New recruits undergoing rigorous training to earn their place in the order.

Current Role

The Frostwardens patrol the tundra, protecting settlements and travelers from threats. They maintain vigilance against incursions from the Howling Abyss and monitor the movements of creatures such as Frost Giants and ice wraiths.

In addition to their martial duties, the Frostwardens study the tundra’s unique magical phenomena, working with scholars and mages to counteract Abyssal corruption and ensure the balance between frost and fire is preserved.

The tundra is unyielding, but so are we. Stand with us, or step aside—there is no place for weakness in the frozen expanse.
