The Furnace Core

Old version of removed The Furnace Core

Description

The Furnace Core is the fiery heart of Ironhearth, a colossal chamber that harnesses the mountain’s geothermal energy to power its forges. The space is dominated by massive furnaces and smelting vats, glowing with the intense heat of molten metal. Rivers of liquid magma flow through channels carved into the stone floor, their glow illuminating the chamber in a flickering, fiery light. The heat is almost unbearable for anyone not accustomed to it, and the air is thick with the tang of molten iron and soot.

Master blacksmiths and artisans work tirelessly here, smelting raw ores into the prized frostforged steel, a material renowned for its durability and resistance to extreme cold. The Core is the pinnacle of dwarven ingenuity, blending ancient craftsmanship with the raw power of nature. Enchanted mechanisms and tools line the chamber, allowing smiths to manipulate molten metal with precision that ensures the quality of every creation.

History

The Furnace Core was constructed when the first settlers of Ironhearth discovered the geothermal vents beneath the mountain. Initially a simple smelting area, it evolved over centuries into a massive industrial complex as the dwarves expanded their understanding of metallurgy and enchantment.

During the Frostspire Shattering, the Furnace Core became a crucial asset, producing the weapons and armor needed to defend the tundra from Abyssal forces. It has since remained one of Ironhearth’s most closely guarded locations, considered both the city’s lifeblood and its greatest treasure.
