The Shard Sea is a sprawling, treacherous wasteland of fractured ice that stretches across the northern reaches of Frostbound. What was once an ocean has frozen solid, and its surface is now a chaotic landscape of jagged icebergs, towering spires, and shimmering crystalline formations. Beneath the surface, frozen ships, creatures, and long-lost ruins lie entombed, preserved as if caught in time.

The Shard Sea is not just a frozen graveyard—it’s a maze of shifting ice floes and hidden dangers. Travelers must contend with unstable terrain, frigid winds, and deadly predators adapted to the harsh environment. Despite these perils, the Shard Sea is a place of haunting beauty and untold riches, with adventurers drawn to its depths by legends of powerful relics and ancient secrets buried beneath the ice.

Inhabitants and Threats

Frost Wraiths:

Ghostly apparitions that haunt the Frostwreck Graveyard, believed to be the spirits of sailors who perished when the sea froze. They are hostile to the living, attacking those who disturb their icy tombs.

Shard Serpents:

Massive, serpentine creatures that swim beneath the ice, their translucent bodies nearly invisible until they strike. These predators are highly territorial and deadly.

Ice Goblins:

Nomadic scavengers who traverse the Shard Sea in sleds pulled by frost wolves. They raid camps and travelers but are known to trade information for warmth or supplies.

The Frostbound Leviathan:

A legendary, ancient beast said to dwell beneath the ice. It is so large that its movements cause tremors across the Shard Sea, and its roar echoes for miles.

The Ice Priests:

A mysterious group of cloaked figures who worship the Shard Sea as a living entity. They believe its frozen expanse holds divine power and guard its secrets fiercely.

Challenges and Hazards

Unstable Ice: The ever-shifting nature of the Shard Sea makes navigation perilous, with ice cracking or collapsing without warning.

Blizzards: Sudden storms sweep across the sea, disorienting travelers and plunging temperatures to deadly levels.

Predatory Beasts: Shard Serpents and other icy predators make every step a potential ambush.

Magical Anomalies: The Veil of Frost and Crystal Peaks are rife with strange magical phenomena that can harm or disorient adventurers.

Isolation: The sheer vastness of the Shard Sea means help is far away, and even small injuries or equipment failures can spell doom.
