Differences on Brownsville Basic Basement
Brownsville, Brooklyn has quite a few multi-family low-rise houses. From one of these, Dwayne has rented the basement. Legally not a seperate house, the slightly frightened owners nevertheless rent this out for a small fee.
The basement itself does not have a shower, but there is a planet fitness in the area that you can buy daytickets to. The windows to the basement have been boarded up, because they got broken at some point, and mainly offer views of a trashpile at any rate. The cellar does not have a convenient entrance from the front nor its own parking space, but a motorcycle can be dumped in the alley and there is a back stairwell.
The basement itself is firmly 'minimalist' and 'down to earth', featuring a bed, a desk and a wardrobe closet. The location itself is not very close to a subway station, requiring at least three blocks of walking to the 2,3,4 line. It is however slightly less crime-prone than the high rise areas of brownsville.

Brownsville has the distinction of being the birthplace of Murder, Inc., in the 1930's back when jewish and italian immigrants made up the majority of its inhabitants. Over the last 50 years, Brownsville has seen a demographic shift towards African-American and Latino majority. Though things have gotten better than the 1970's era 'Bombsville', the area still struggles with unemployment, drug use and gang violence.
