Elijah Payne

Old version of Faustin Rayne

Independant fixer and off-off-broadway theater owner.

Type: Kindred
Bloodline: Toreador

Elijah Payne is the owner of a small off-off-broadway theater, which he also uses as a base of operations for his less legitimate activities. He is primarily an independent fixer for the New York criminal world, though the kind you usually only go to when things get desperate. He will do whatever is needed to ‘help’ people, and then keeps any favors open for future use. He is perfectly willing to use those favors of him to help you out, granted that the potential future favors he can get back from you are well worth it. People who lose the standing to pay back their favors, often end up working directly for him for only a minimal compensation, or face the consequences.

Members of the community can usually count on him in this manner as well, when they truly need it. The price is typically equally high though. His methods, can at times be threatening to break the Masquerade, though he has never actually been caught doing so. Most Kindred try to avoid dealing with him for these reasons, when you owe one to Elijah Payne you never know when he comes to collect.

Aside from that, Elijah also runs some more direct 'business'. A couple of his theater shows throughout the week are quite erotic in nature, and it is entirely possible to ‘meet’ with the actresses for a small price. Of course, this is all in the name of art, and the price of the meet and greet technically does not include sexual favors. Other nights might feature live showings of sports games, or a poker night in the lounge, but there is most certainly not any actual betting or gambling going on. One might find that there is very little actual money changing hands in this small theater, but people tend to come in to indulge in various vices.

It is rumored he started his business during the American prohibition, selling bootleg whiskey, though it is uncertain if he was kindred during that time. He certainly is now, and he is generally tight-lipped about his past.

Personality

While deep down one might still find a passion for the arts in this man, Elijah is mostly a man with a greed for wealth and influence, and little humanity in him. Still though, most of the things he does in the end help people out in their darkest moments, or with their more forbidden desires.

Appearance

Elijah typically wears a suit and has well-trimmed gray beard and mustache. At first sight he typically seems like a friendly elder gentleman.
