Prerequistes: Thaumaturgy; Experience: 4xp
Activation: 15 minutes
Ingredients: Bark of a tree that was planted before the thaumaturge was born.
This ritual is also, archaically, known as the Erschütterungsumhangritus.
The thaumaturge soaks the crushed bark in vitae, in a bowl made of glass or other translucent material. As the bark soaks the thaumaturge holds the bowl above the drawn sigils of movement and obscurement, and intones the chant of the custodian. At the conclusion of the ritual, the thaumaturge drinks the broth of bark and vitae. As the thaumaturge sets down the bowl on the sigils they pick up the metaphysical cloak of the custodian, and wrap themselves in the cloak with a flourish.
As the cloak settles on their person, the custodian's body is overcome with severe irresistable tremors growing in frequency until the outline of their form is but a blur. While the custodian can still move about with purpose, they will find themselves unable to perform the fine manipulations. While they can still speak when they don the cloak, their voice will sound as if a chorus speaks their words. In effect, the custodian will be unrecognizable either by form or by voice.
The custodian can grab hold of the metaphysical mantle and pull it off with a gesture, ending the ritual immediately. The ritual also ends at sun up, and if the bowl is removed from the sigils for any reason.
System: Once the ritual activates the thaumaturge becomes unrecognizable by their appearance or voice. While active, the ritual prevents the thaumaturge from taking Dexterity-based rolls and sets all static values derived from Dexterity to 0.
The anonimity effect does not cover smell, taste, or other senses beyond sight and sound.
While the thaumaturge can end the ritual with a simple physical action by taking hold of the "cloak" and pulling it off, others cannot do so. To forcefully end the ritual, they must instead remove the bowl from the sigils, or wait till sun up.
