Proficiency required: Musical instrument

Apprentice

After performing for at least one minute, you can try to distract one creature you can see who can see and hear you. Make a Charisma (Performance) check contested by the humanoid's Wisdom (Insight) check. If your check succeeds, you grab the humanoid's attention enough that it makes Wisdom (Perception) and Intelligence (Investigation) checks with disadvantage until you stop performing. You can distract an additional two creatures for each additional tier you have unlocked in this profession.

Journeyman

You can cast the enthrall spell; you can cast this spell twice, and regain expended uses at the end of a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this spell.

Master

Your songs are so engaging that they can magically bring objects to life. As an action, you can target a Large or smaller non-magical item you can see within 30 feet of you and animate it. The animate item uses the Dancing Item stat block below, and is under your control for up to 1 hour while you continue playing (which does not cost an action, but requires you to be able to act), or until it is reduced to 0 hit points.

In combat, the item shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but the only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take one of the actions in its stat block or the Dash, Disengage, Help, Hide, or Search action.

Once you animate an item with this feature, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.

Grandmaster

You may play such a discordant chord that it causes those around you are visibly stunned. As an action using a musical instrument, you can cause all creatures within 90 feet of you to make an Intelligence saving throw. Creatures who fail the save are stunned until the start of your next turn. You regain the use of this ability at the end of a long rest.

You can give creatures who you are familiar with a predetermined sign to cover their ears as a reaction as long as they have at least one hand free (though they can drop items on the floor before doing so without requiring any actions). Creatures who cover their ears or cannot hear you are immune to the effects of this ability.
