Differences on Character Creation
**Choose a [[Race]]:** Players can choose from the races available in FFXIV, each of which has its own unique traits and abilities. These races include the Hyur, Miqo'te, Elezen, Garlean, Roegadyn, Lalafell, Au Ra, Viera, and Hrothgar.
**Choose a [[Class]]:** Players can choose from the classes available in FFXIV, each of which has its own unique abilities and playstyles. These classes include the Paladin, Warrior, Dark Knight, Gunbreaker, White Mage, Scholar, Astrologian, Monk, Dragoon, Ninja, Samurai, Bard, Machinist, Black Mage, Summoner, Red Mage, Blue Mage, and Dancer.
**Determine Ability [[rules/Scores]]:** Players can determine their ability scores using the standard methods outlined in the D&D Player's Handbook. This usually involves either rolling dice, using a point-buy system, or using a standard set of scores.
**Describe Your [[rules/Character]]:** Players should come up with a backstory, personality, and appearance for their character. This can be influenced by their race, class, and the world of Eorzea.
**Choose Equipment:** Players can choose their starting equipment based on their class and background. This can include weapons, armor, and other adventuring gear.
**Choose a Background[[Background]]:** Players can choose a background for their character, which provides additional skills, tools, and role-playing hooks. These backgrounds can be adapted from the standard D&D backgrounds to fit the world of Eorzea.
**Choose a Deity[[Deity]]:** If applicable, players can choose a deity for their character from the pantheon of the Twelve.
**In our Dungeons & Dragons campaign, all new characters begin at Level 3. This decision has been made to allow players to have a more developed character at the start of the game, providing them with more abilities and options during gameplay.**
**Starting at Level 3 has several benefits:**
**Class Features:** Many classes gain significant abilities at Level 3.
**Survivability:** Characters at Level 1 can be quite fragile, with low hit points and limited resources. Starting at Level 3 gives characters a bit more durability, which can lead to more dynamic and less risky encounters.
**Backstory:** Starting at Level 3 can make sense from a narrative perspective. A Level 3 character has some adventuring experience, which can be incorporated into their backstory.
When creating your character, please plan accordingly. Consider how your character gained their skills and what experiences they might have had to reach Level 3. If you need help or guidance during character creation, don't hesitate to ask in our character creation sessions.
